Position Goal:
This position is responsible for organizing multiple facets of enrichment opportunities for Heritage High School students, to include, but not limited to:
- Artists In Residence- contacting, calendaring, and staffing community members and Indigenous artists
- Field Experiences- coordinates details for all field trips and learning opportunities in the community (UW, EvCC, Students of Color, Community Wellness, etc)
- Mentors- identify key community members to act as Mentors for specific students as identified by school support team
- Field Experience- identify, develop, and support community-based opportunities for students to engage in supplemental learning environments that align with individual pathways
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- College preferred
- Previous experience working with Native American students and community
- Previous experience working with children required
- Valid Washington State Driver’s license and evidence of mobility
- Experience and/or training with cultural, ethnic, and language diversity preferred
- Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance
- Proof of Immunization (if born 1/1/57 or later)
- I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act
- Completion of all district-required training within thirty (30) calendar days from hire date
Essential Job Functions:
This list of essential job functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Depending upon individual assignment, the employee may perform all or a combination of several of the following duties:
- Serve as a point person for community & Indigenous artists, mentors, and internship contacts
- Identify key community members and Indigenous artists to participate in AIR day teaching
- Identify, develop, implement, and maintain community based community based learning opportunities for students (field experiences, mentors, internships)
- Maintain a calendar representing AIR day staff, mentor meetings, and internship dates and establish an efficient communication system with school staff
- Work with individuals and small groups of students to identify strengths and interests in order to place with appropriate mentors and/or internship locations
- Meet and discuss mentorship and internship opportunities with students and families
- Work with Principal to implement programs, develop program goals, and set individual student goals as appropriate
- Work closely with Office Manager to follow district guidelines regarding requisitions and field experience priors
- Coordinate and oversee AIR days, Field Experiences, Mentorships, and Internships
- Maintain consistent presence at worksite and regular hours
- Professionally interact with students, staff, families, and community
- Comply with all district policies and procedures
- Perform related duties assigned

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position is based in the school, but will also require travel within the community. The employee is required to have precise control of fingers and hand movements; experiences constant interruptions and inflexible deadlines; must be able to work at a computer monitor for prolonged periods; and must be able to crouch, crawl, bend, kneel, and lift/move objects such as files, boxes, etc. The employee is exposed to infectious diseases carried by children. The noise level in the work environment is acceptable to this particular environment and can vary depending upon daily activity but will remain within acceptable ranges.
Evaluation:
The position shall be evaluated periodically by Building Principal pursuant to the currently established district procedures and evaluation criteria. The process shall include an evaluation of employee’s performance of the above essential job functions.
