Job Description: 

 

  1. Provide instructional support in the library media center for students, staff, and faculty in information retrieval
  2. Foster a love of literacy through engaging read-alouds, storytelling, and book talks.
  3. Assist students in the selection of books and other library resources appropriate for their reading level and interests.
  4. Collaborate with teachers to support classroom learning and literacy goals.
  5. Maintain a regular schedule for library classes and open access times.
  6. Circulate books and other materials through the computerized circulation system.
  7. Shelve materials using library organization systems.
  8. Process new books and materials, including covering, labeling, stamping, filing, cleaning, and mending.
  9. Input, modify, and retrieve data in the library circulation program.
  10. Assist with the selection and ordering of library materials.
  11. Maintain an appealing and functional environment conducive to learning.
  12. Track inventory and maintain accurate records of library resources, including books, technology, and equipment.
  13. Provide minor maintenance/cleaning for audio-visual and library equipment.
  14. Assist with schoolwide literacy events such as book fairs, reading challenges, and author visits.
  15. Supervise students visiting the library to ensure safety and positive behavior.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal to support campus goals.

 

Requirements/Qualifications:

 

  1. Some library experience desirable.
  2. Must possess exceptional organizational skills.
  3. Must be a versatile, adaptable individual with the initiative to effectively maintain a fast-paced work environment; meeting deadlines and working with minimal supervision.
  4. Must be certified as highly qualified.
  5. Must possess the ability to use independent judgment and initiative, when appropriate, in dealing with library initiatives, as well as academic and student issues.
  6. Must be competent in using technology tools such as a computer, iPad, etc.,
  7. Must possess the ability to work with computer applications
  8. Must possess the ability to positively and effectively interact with students, staff, and faculty.
  9. Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  10. Some moderate to heavy lifting may be required.
