Job Description:
- Provide instructional support in the library media center for students, staff, and faculty in information retrieval
- Foster a love of literacy through engaging read-alouds, storytelling, and book talks.
- Assist students in the selection of books and other library resources appropriate for their reading level and interests.
- Collaborate with teachers to support classroom learning and literacy goals.
- Maintain a regular schedule for library classes and open access times.
- Circulate books and other materials through the computerized circulation system.
- Shelve materials using library organization systems.
- Process new books and materials, including covering, labeling, stamping, filing, cleaning, and mending.
- Input, modify, and retrieve data in the library circulation program.
- Assist with the selection and ordering of library materials.
- Maintain an appealing and functional environment conducive to learning.
- Track inventory and maintain accurate records of library resources, including books, technology, and equipment.
- Provide minor maintenance/cleaning for audio-visual and library equipment.
- Assist with schoolwide literacy events such as book fairs, reading challenges, and author visits.
- Supervise students visiting the library to ensure safety and positive behavior.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal to support campus goals.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Some library experience desirable.
- Must possess exceptional organizational skills.
- Must be a versatile, adaptable individual with the initiative to effectively maintain a fast-paced work environment; meeting deadlines and working with minimal supervision.
- Must be certified as highly qualified.
- Must possess the ability to use independent judgment and initiative, when appropriate, in dealing with library initiatives, as well as academic and student issues.
- Must be competent in using technology tools such as a computer, iPad, etc.,
- Must possess the ability to work with computer applications
- Must possess the ability to positively and effectively interact with students, staff, and faculty.
- Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Some moderate to heavy lifting may be required.
