Plant Maintenance Supervisor - PM Shift, Plant 3

Department: Maintenance Location: De Pere, WI

PM Shift:

  • 2:00 PM to 12:00 AM
  • Monday through Thursday

Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily maintenance operations during the assigned shift to ensure optimal equipment performance, operational efficiency, and compliance with safety and quality standards. Working in close alignment with and under the guidance of the Plant Maintenance Manager, this role provides leadership and direction to maintenance technicians, coordinating and prioritizing work assignments, monitoring progress, and ensuring the timely resolution of maintenance issues. Acting as the primary point of contact for shift-related maintenance activities, the Maintenance Supervisor collaborates with the Plant Maintenance Manager, production, and other departments to reduce downtime, support operational goals, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Responsible to follow all safety procedures as required by the role, and to nurture a food safety culture by adhering to all Safe Quality Foods requirements.
  2. Oversee day-to-day maintenance activities, ensuring timely response to press calls and the completion of preventative maintenance tasks.
  3. Directly delegate tasks and assignments to maintenance staff based on operational priorities and workforce availability.
  4. Promote a safety-first culture by ensuring compliance with safety protocols and maintenance best practices.
  5. Provide hands-on support for maintenance activities, including corrective mechanical and electrical needs of production and support equipment to maintain operational efficiency and equipment reliability.
  6. Collaborate with other shifts to ensure smooth communication and consistent maintenance coverage.
  7. Collaborate with the Plant Maintenance Manager to determine the correct team structure and on-boarding of staff.
  8. Required to float between De Pere campus sites during the shift to provide leadership presence, support, and troubleshooting guidance for maintenance teams.
  9. Accountable for staff development through coaching and training, as well as performance reviews, attendance records, vacation scheduling, and pay recommendations for staff.
  10. Periodically work outside the normal shift to provide support within the team, along with the needs of equipment and production.
  11. Responsible for monitoring and tracking equipment service needs within the facility.
  12. Ensure proper follow-through on all maintenance issues.
  13. Develop, review, update, and maintain maintenance procedures used for training and communicating work/job expectations of maintenance personnel utilizing the Promapp and Belmark University platforms.
  14. Maintain inventory areas cleanliness and organization, as well as accuracy through auditing and holding maintenance staff accountable for charging parts against work orders.
  15. Responsible for following SQF requirements along with the appearance of the maintenance shops, mezzanines, compressor rooms, electrical rooms, and maintenance work sites.
  16. Participate in open communication within the maintenance department.
  17. May perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Maintenance Manager.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  1. Ability to formulate work plans, prepare written materials and articulate goals and action plans.
  2. Requires eight (8) years of electro-mechanical experience, or four (4) years of electro-mechanical experience with an associate degree in electro-mechanical technology or equivalent.
  3. Work cohesively with team members to achieve departmental goals.
  4. Ability to lead, develop, and support small teams.
  5. Manage and complete equipment related projects on time.
  6. Possess excellent electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  7. Experienced in a manufacturing/production environment.
  8. Support leadership in the event of absence.
  9. Must be able to communicate and work effectively within maintenance team and with internal customers.
  10. Must be familiar with AC and DC circuits, low voltage through 480v three phase power.
  11. Office software and computer navigation skills.
  12. Must be able to analyze many variables and choose the most effective course of action.
  13. Must be able to resolve problems and make effective decisions under pressure.
  14. Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
  15. Ability to give, receive and analyze information.
  16. Ability to meet deadlines. May be required to work some overtime.
  17. Knowledge of and the ability to speak the English language fluently.
  18. Ability to read, comprehend, and follow implicit and explicit written and oral instructions.
  19. Requires nearly constant concentration along with attention detail.
  20. Ability to use hands for 100% of work time (e.g. wrenches, screw drivers, drills, etc.); and reach above shoulders for 25% of work time.
  21. Ability to: stand and walk for 75% of work time; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl for 25% of work time.
  22. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds of less 30% of work time, up to 50 pounds or less 15% of work time and up to 75 pounds or less 15% of work time.
  23. Ability to: see clearly at 20 inches or less, or 20 feet or more and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
  24. May lift up to 100 pounds.

Working Conditions

  1. Work near moving mechanical parts.
  2. Nearly constant exposure to vibrations, noise, strobe/flashing light and chemical odors.
  3. Work in high, precarious places.
  4. May work in outside weather conditions.
