TEMPORARY UP TO 60 DAY SPECIAL EDUCATION INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT, 7.5 HOUR – Talent Middle School

This 7.5 hour position starts August 2025.

REPORTS TO: Building Administration
SALARY: $20.11 per hour.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Temporary up to 60 days 7.5 hour site-based special education instructional assistant. To assist teachers in assessment of academic and behavioral/social skills and in the prescriptive teaching in academic and behavioral/social areas. Provide instruction in small groups or one-on-one in multiple subjects as well as supervision of students in the classroom and non-instructional settings. Assist with physical management of students including lifting, moving, positioning, feeding, amd toileting or diapering. Perform physical interventions, prompts, restraints or seclusions of an intense and regular nature in accordance with District policy and applicable statues in the site-based classroom. Administer non-invasive medications or medical intervention within the scope of District policies and state and federal law, under the direction of licensed staff and/or building administrator. Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Accurate reading, writing, and listening skills.
- Ability to successfully work with moderately-impacted special education students.
- Meet ESSA requirements: two years (72+ quarter credits) college credit or successful completion of Work Keys test exam (or other comparable skills evaluation) prior to hiring.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students and adults.
- Must be currently or willing to become first aid/CPR certified.
- Physical demands needed: ability to communicate with students, co-workers, and the public; ability to communicate over the telephone; ability to respond to telephones, bells, students, co-workers, etc.; ability to respond to classroom disturbances, visual cues, student requests, etc.; ability to read written material; ability to operate office equipment; ability to carry or lift light loads (25 lbs)
PREFERENCE: - Preference may be given to those who are fluent in Spanish and English.
