Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Implement and uphold U. S. Steel’s safety program to maintain a safe workplace
- Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and laws
- Apply engineering and business principles to optimize workforce performance
- Manage and develop direct reports, including maintenance shift managers, team and crew leaders, by setting goals and conducting performance reviews
- Collaborate with other managers, engineers, and equipment vendors to support plant operations
- Evaluate and recommend equipment upgrades and capital projects
- Engage in maintenance planning to reduce downtime and operational costs
- Drive process improvements and participate in facility upgrades
- Help create and improve safety, quality, operating, and maintenance procedures
- Provide technical support and hands-on assistance
- Support staff in troubleshooting equipment and process issues
- Develop and implement strategies for cost savings
- Manage both annual and short-term budgets
- Ensure training plans are comprehensive and executed effectively
- This is a safety sensitive position requiring drug and alcohol testing.
- The salary range of $122,722.40 to $184,083.60 is a good faith estimate. Based on candidate skills/experience the final offer may be lower/higher.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution or,
- At least 5 years of experience managing mechanical maintenance within manufacturing or a related field
- Budgeting and cost control expertise
- Strong leadership and effective communication skills (verbal and written)
- Proven ability to drive continuous improvement with urgency
- Experience managing unionized teams and maintenance managers (preferred)
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
