JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: CAMPUS ATTENDANT - MIDDLE SCHOOL
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Post high school education or degree desirable.
2. Develops positive relationships with a broad range of students, staff, and community members.
3. Able to demonstrate patience and gain students' cooperation.
4. Demonstrates good listening skills and communicates effectively.
5. Able to confront students when appropriate and hold them accountable for their actions.
6. Demonstrates proficient use of English language in written and oral forms.
7. Use/operate technology and equipment related to the position/job.
8. Able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
REPORTS TO: Dean of Students for Supervisory Services or Building Principal (where applicable). SUPERVISES: Students, building and campus grounds.
POSITION SUMMARY: Maintains an atmosphere conducive to learning, is able to confront students when their behavior is unacceptable, and develops a positive and cooperative relationship with students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Monitor halls, washrooms, locker rooms, parking lots and surrounding campus, etc.
2. Supervise cafeteria.
3. Supervise bus loading.
4. Supervise and monitor students in structured study and/or in-school detention.
5. Building supervision before and after school.
6. Work with other school personnel to provide a safe and orderly school environment.
7. Provide supervision and security after school, at extracurricular events and other occasions as requested by the supervisor.
8. Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
PHYSICAL CONTEXT OF THE JOB: Able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
GENERAL COMMENTS:
Provide guidance and positive direction to the student body regarding respect and school expectations for behavior as described in the Student Handbook.
Intervenes and takes appropriate action when respect for the individual or our educational environment is not demonstrated.
Is proactive - prevents problems from developing.
Enjoys the daily challenge of dealing with adolescent issues and providing positive direction and encouragement.
Views conflict situations as an opportunity to teach conflict resolution.
