Position Summary:

Coordinates and oversees ramp activities, including but not limited to airport operations, aircraft handling, and Ground Service Equipment (GSE) maintenance. Directs and coordinates activities to ensure optimum use of the company’s equipment, facilities, and personnel. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and resolving complaints.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned from time to time.

  • Direct and control employees and equipment to complete tasks within established company standards.
  • Monitor and/or conduct required training of personnel.
  • Enforce compliance with administrative policies, safety rules, and applicable government regulations (FAA, OSHA, DERM, etc.).
  • Analyze schedules and trends to prepare efficient and economical personnel coverage that meets operational demands.
  • Maintain high employee morale through consistent discipline and commendation.
  • Manage assignments for outside vendors and oversee GSE purchases, leases, rentals, price negotiations, warranty terms, and delivery.
  • Protect and maintain proper use of all company property.
  • Identify opportunities to control costs and support corporate initiatives.
  • Interpret and communicate company policies and procedures to subordinates.
  • Conduct timely employee performance evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and emergency preparedness requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date emergency contact lists and review records at least every six months.
  • Respond promptly to service requests.
  • Hire and ensure proper onboarding and paperwork completion for all new employees.
  • Complete and submit required reports on time.
  • Travel as required.
  • Track departmental performance against established standards.

Performance Standards/Measurements:

  • Meet departmental budget targets.
  • Complete training requirements per established procedures.
  • Conduct employee reviews on schedule.
  • Achieve on-time performance goals.
  • Ensure subordinate performance meets established standards.

Minimum Qualifications, Skills, Education and Experience:

Education and/or Certification

  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
  • Valid U.S. passport.

Required Knowledge

  • Familiarity with GSE maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge of applicable FAA regulations, OSHA, DERM, and standard security programs.
  • Hazardous Materials handling knowledge and/or certification.

Required Experience

  • 3–5 years of management experience in cargo/freight handling, customer service, and ground handling of commercial aircraft.

Required Skills and Abilities:

·  Strong leadership and team management skills.

·  Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

·  Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

·  Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced operational environment.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

·  Prior experience managing ramp operations at a commercial airport.

·  Experience leading a unionized workforce.

·  Proficiency in using airport operations systems and maintenance tracking software.

·  Experience with budgeting, cost control, and vendor contract management.

Physical Activities and Requirements of the Position:

  • Ability to work in outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and move for extended periods.
