What you'll do:Viasat is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to fill the role of Tactical SATCOM Program Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Tactical SATCOM business area with a focus on UHF SATCOM, leading a team of professionals to drive market expansion, revenue growth, and successful execution of programs within the Department of Defense (DoD) and related sectors. This role requires a visionary leader with a proven track record of achieving revenue targets, identifying, and capturing new market opportunities, and delivering exceptional results in the defense technology sector.
The day-to-day:- Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of Product Managers and Lead Engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence
- Market Expansion: Identify and capitalize on new market opportunities to expand the company's footprint, leveraging cutting-edge offerings to meet customer needs and drive revenue growth
- Program Execution: Oversee the full lifecycle of programs, from shaping requirements and capture to proposal, negotiation, execution, and contract closeout, ensuring alignment with cost, schedule, and performance goals
- Customer Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders, ensuring customer satisfaction and driving repeat business
- Financial Management: Manage the financial performance of the Tactical SATCOM business area, including budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation, to achieve annual revenue growth targets
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures, while proactively identifying and mitigating risks to program success
- 5+ years of experience in a leadership role within the defense technology sector, with a track record of driving revenue growth and successfully executing large-scale programs
- Working knowledge of the Federal procurement process (including IDIQs, OTAs, BAAs, and other acquisition instruments)
- Demonstrated expertise in all branches of the Department of Defense
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve exceptional results
- Proven ability to think strategically, identify market trends, and capitalize on new opportunities to drive business growth
- Demonstrated expertise in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L responsibility
- Former US Military experience preferred
- Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience
- US Government position. US Citizenship required
- Active DoD Secret clearance
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
- Experience with a book and ship product portfolio of military use hardware
- UHF knowledge and experience
- Experience expanding business into the international market.
