Intervention Technician

Job Description – Journeys DDA

 

As a Behavior Technician you will provide direct support and intervention services to children with developmental disabilities. Under the supervision of a behavior analyst or licensed professional, you will assist in the implementation of behavior intervention plans and strategies to help participants develop and improve their functional abilities and daily living skills. This position requires a strong commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of children and their families.

 

THIS POSITION REQUIRES YOU TO BE WITHIN 24 CREDITS OF GRADUTATION OF A BACHELOR'S DEGREE OR TO HAVE A BACHELOR'S DEGREE


Responsibilities:

  1. Implement Behavior Intervention Plans:
    • Follow behavior intervention plans developed by a behavior analyst or licensed professional to address specific behaviors and skill deficits.
    • Provide one-on-one support and intervention to participants using approved strategies and techniques.
  2. Skill Development:
    • Assist participants in developing and improving developmentally appropriate functional abilities and daily living skills.
    • Utilize evidence-based practices to teach new skills and promote independence.
  3. Data Collection and Reporting:
    • Collect accurate and detailed data on targeted behaviors and skill acquisition.
    • Maintain thorough and organized records of participant progress and behavior incidents.
    • Prepare progress reports and summaries as required by the supervisor.
  4. Direct Interaction and Support:
    • Interact directly with participants in various settings, such as homes, schools, or clinics.
    • Provide support and encouragement to participants during activities and interventions.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes participant engagement and learning.
  5. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with the behavior analyst, intervention team, and other professionals involved in the participant's care.
    • Attend team meetings to discuss participant progress, goals, and modifications to intervention plans.
    • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers, providing updates on participant progress and addressing any concerns.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional relevant certifications or coursework in psychology, behavior analysis, or related fields are a plus.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and implement behavior intervention plans accurately.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with participants and their families.
  • Excellent observation and documentation skills, with attention to detail.
  • Reliable and punctual, with the ability to maintain a consistent schedule.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines.
  • Willingness to learn and receive ongoing training and supervision.
  • Complete an update CPR/First Aid Training 
  • Complete and update SAM (Self Administration of Medication) class as required prior to assisting with meds 
  • Complete all DDA-specific training requirements

These KPIs provide a comprehensive assessment of the Behavior Technician's performance in facilitating skill development, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating with the team to ensure effective intervention services for participants. It is important to establish specific targets or benchmarks for each KPI and regularly review progress to assess the technician's performance and identify areas for improvement.

 

  1. Skill Acquisition and Progress: This KPI measures the ability of the Behavior Technician to facilitate skill development and track participant progress. It can be assessed by considering factors such as the number of new skills acquired by participants, improvements in existing skills, and the rate of progress demonstrated over a specific period.

 

  1. Data Collection Accuracy and Timeliness: This KPI assesses the Behavior Technician's ability to collect accurate and detailed data on participant behaviors and skill acquisition. It focuses on the quality and timeliness of data collection, including the completeness of records, adherence to data collection protocols, and timely submission of data to the supervisor or data management system.

 

 

  1. Collaboration and Communication: This KPI evaluates the Behavior Technician's effectiveness in collaborating with the intervention team and communicating with parents or caregivers. It can be measured by factors such as the frequency and quality of communication with team members, participation in team meetings, responsiveness to inquiries or concerns, and the ability to provide clear and concise updates on participant progress.
