Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician is required to perform tasks involved in the upkeep of the building and grounds, installation, maintenance, maintaining and repairing of hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, mechanical and electrical systems on all production machines, equipment and building. May be required to perform purchasing and inventory of maintenance parts & supplies and successfully negotiate and interact with suppliers, customers, manufacturers and internal department personnel. The incumbent is expected to be a self-starter, a good manager of time, work independently and follow Pretium’s standards for safety and conduct.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Maintenance Technician I – This is the entry level position title with this series. Employees at this level are expected to perform minor repairs and improvements in a variety of trades under the direction of a building or maintenance supervisor.
The following list of major duties represents a composite list of typical duties performed by individuals in this position. Specific duties performed by the incumbent will vary depending upon the facility and/or department within the Company.
- Responsible for general maintenance duties on building and machines; performs preventative maintenance on Plant machines.
- Performs minor electrical work not requiring a licensed electrician such as replacing light bulbs and fuses; assists in minor carpentry and repair work.
- Assists with servicing and replacing minor plumbing fixtures.
- Maintain machinery, equipment and tools by cleaning, lubricating, greasing and/or oiling to ensure optimum working order.
- Applies paint, varnish and stain to all types of surfaces to protect and beautify surfaces using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Responsible for following Plant specified job specification and task list.
- Responsible for conducting him/herself in a safe manner and adhering to all required safety protocols and policies.
- Required to wear PPE properly in accordance with company standards.
- Keep the area around your workstation clean and free from dirt and debris; this may include cleaning assigned areas of the building or pieces of equipment as instructed by your Supervisor.
- Must be able to work assigned shifts, including working overtime and attending after hour meetings as needed.
- May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Maintenance Technician II – This is the second level position title within this series. Employees at this level are expected to have developed a trade of expertise and have the ability to work independently in the performance of standard maintenance and repairs.
The following list of major duties represents a composite list of typical duties performed by individuals in this position. Specific duties performed by the incumbent will vary depending upon the facility and/or department within the Company.
- Responsible for all duties covered under Maintenance Technician I.
- Performs preventive maintenance and makes repairs to heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment according to instructions such as replacing belts on motors, changing filters, bearings, etc.
- Maintains and makes routine repairs to electrically powered equipment and appliances according to instruction from senior technicians, supervisor and/or equipment service manuals.
- Apply carpentry techniques and using carpentry tools to construct, alter, repair and/or install walls, stairs, floors, ceiling, windows, doors, roofs, gutters, lock, etc.
- Perform structural repair, alterations or improvement work such as preparing surfaces for plaster or cement work; studding, wiring and plastering walls. Install glass in doors and windows.
- Responsible for following Plant specified job specification and task list.
- Responsible for conducting him/herself in a safe manner and adhering to all required safety protocols and policies.
- Required to wear PPE properly in accordance with company standards.

Maintenance Technician III – This is the third level position title within this series. Employees at this level are expected to have developed a trade of expertise for machine maintenance and production equipment repairs; installs, maintains and repairs hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, mechanical and electrical systems on all production equipment and works independently in the performance of standard maintenance and repairs.
The following list of major duties represents a composite list of typical duties performed by individuals in this position. Specific duties performed by the incumbent will vary depending upon the facility and/or department within the Company.
- Receives and follows up on assigned equipment work orders on a daily basis.
- Upon completion of work, enters appropriate information onto worksheet for submission and filing and/or enters into MRP system for filing and tracking.
- Reads schematics in order to trouble shoot hydraulic / pneumatic and electrical issues.
- Responsible for reading, editing, monitoring and modifying ladder logic.
- Ability to read, edit, monitor + modify ladder logic.
- Performs scheduled PM’s; visually inspect and test assigned machines and equipment for proper functionality.
- Responsible for placing orders for requisition parts as needed.
- Perform repairs on production machines and/or equipment when a malfunction has been detected. May discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem and repair the machine.
- Lay out, assemble, install and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment.
- Perform machine installations/moves and building maintenance tasks as needed.
- Assists workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
- Develop, coordinate and track project list activities.
- Ensures that a high level of safety is adhered to at all times on and off the production floor.
- All duties covered under Maintenance Technician level I and II.
- Responsible for following Plant specified job specification and task list.

Food Safety Responsibilities
- Monitor and verify activities to ensure that all maintenance work in the facility meet food safety standards in addition to quality standards.
- Comply with all company food safety and quality assurance procedures and document data correctly at all times.
- Ensure all work product contact surfaces are restored to sanitary condition after any job completion.
- Report any product or process failures that could impact food safety of manufactured product to
Quality and/or Line/Maintenance Supervision.

Education and Experience
Maintenance Technician I
- High school diploma / GED
- One year of related experience
Maintenance Technician II
- High School Diploma / GED, plus technical certificate(s)
- Three years of related experience
Maintenance Technician III
- Associates Degree in technical field
- Five years of related experience
Additional Work Experience
- Experience with plastics blow molding operations (injection blow molding, extrusion blow molding, etc.) is a plus.
- Working knowledge of relay control systems and PLC control systems, namely Mitsubishi, Siemens and Automation direct.
- Ability to read, edit, monitor, and modify ladder logic.
- Proficient in reading schematics to trouble shoot hydraulic / pneumatic and electrical issues.
Materials Required
Must have tools in order to perform all functions of the job/position. A minimum list of tools will be given by plant management.
