VOLUNTEER VOLLEYBALL AND/OR FLAG FOOTBALL COACH 

About the Position:

Under the general supervision and guidance of the Recreation Coordinator, a Volunteer Volleyball and/or Flag-Football Coach will oversee Youth teams participating in league play which takes place primarily on weekday evenings (Volleyball/Flag Football) as well as Saturdays (Flag Football). The coach will have a background in volleyball and/or flag football. The Flag Football season will run from August - October; the Volleyball season from January - March.

About Grand Junction Parks and Recreation Department: 

The recreation division offers a variety of programs for all ages. We have sports leagues for youth and adults, as well as a variety of camps, recreation programs, and aquatics offerings. Come join a dynamic team that helps create life-enriching experiences for all participants in our many programs. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Open and close facility, arriving 45 minutes prior to first game time. 
  • Work on site until the last games are over and the area is clear.
  • Greet players, staff, and spectators and answer questions.
  • Enforce Parks Rules.
  • Monitor play to oversee the safety of players and ensure rules are followed.
  • Listens to concerns and addresses players in a professional manner.
  • Report inappropriate behavior, problems, and other situations to the Recreation Coordinator.
  • Work weeknight evening shifts and occasional weekend tournament games.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong background in volleyball and/or flag football.
  • Knowledge of volleyball and/or flag football game and rules.
  • Great communication skills and ability to work with the public in a respectful, professional manner.
  • Ability to work evenings and occasional weekend tournament games.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance.
  • Someone who is willing to handle stressful situations.
