About the job: 

Kent is looking for a Senior Piping Designer to be based in Baytown, TX and support regional project site(s).

 

Performs piping engineering program management work and oversees other engineers, technicians or contractors in the design, construction, maintenance and operation of buildings, utilities, earthwork and related facilities, performs related work as required

 

Skills and Responsibilities:  

Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead the design processes involved in a specialty project, including ensuring that drawings are ready on time, reviewing designs and making them available to the appropriate people.
  • Manage the liaison with clients on design-related matters.
  • Establish and maintain effective methods of communication between the teams involved in design work throughout the project.
  • Oversee the maintenance of records and documents throughout the project.
  • Assess, mitigate and manage risks connected with design.
  • Work with the Piping Design Lead in planning and design layout.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to others in your area(s) of expertise.
  • Explore and suggest new approaches and concepts in design components.
  • Conduct plant site visits when needed.
  • Independently perform most assignments, plan work and meet deadlines without supervisor action.
  • Prepare and layout piping systems in conformance with applicable codes and design standards and produce required deliverables.
  • Ensure project piping deliverables are checked and meet industry, client and company quality standards.
  • Coordinate survey request with survey group.
  • Oversee the review of designs and design work to ensure they meet health and safety legislation, sustainable building standards (such as BREEAM – the Building Research Establishment’s Environmental Assessment Method) and industry codes of practice.
  • Oversee the design team management.
  • Chair design meetings, writing reports and giving presentations.
  • Oversee the preparation of plans, drawings and Diagrams.
  • Manage the preparation of plans, drawings and diagrams for each project, applying specific knowledge, standards and norms established for each document, in order to guarantee that the requirements and needs raised by the client and the clients are met.
  • Manage the implementation of projects within the deadlines defined in the Detailed Work Program and with the Quality and Compliance parameters stipulated in the Value Promise.
  • Oversee the technical support provided the specialty Engineers in the preparation, review, complementation or expansion of the generally applied technical standards, in accordance with procedures established by the Company and Client requests, in order to optimize and facilitate development of the projects.
  • Participate in the solution of findings from internal audits, periodic verifications and/or non-conformity reports issued by the Quality Area, according to the request of your Immediate Manager, in order to support the realization of activities that allow closing corrective and/or preventive actions for the timely development of improvement actions.

 

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

 

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:   

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification: 

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in refinery, midstream or petrochemical industries.
  • Design and construction experience of piping systems in plants.
  • Advanced knowledge about design/drafting principles and practices.
  • Working experience with high value engineering center (HVEC) preferred.
  • Proficient in the following software: AutoCAD and Navisworks.
  • Knowledge of CADWorx Plant Professional Suite, CloudWorx and LFM Server.
  • Experience with MS Office products and Adobe PDF Pro.

 

 

Communication:

  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.
