About the Department
Sacramento Area Sewer District (SacSewer) is currently accepting applications for a Scientist position. Applications will be screened after the following filing deadlines at 5PM:

The Scientist is a single class with two salary levels. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and the level at which appointments are made is at the discretion of the appointing authority. The Scientist I is the journey level in this class series. Under general supervision, incumbents perform various scientific and environmental tasks that are more structured and repetitive than those assigned at Scientist II. As requisite skills and knowledge are developed, incumbents are expected to perform increasingly responsible, complex, and difficult assignments. At the discretion of the appointing authority, incumbents may advance to a higher level after demonstrating the ability to perform the full scope of duties of the class, which generally requires twelve months of experience at Scientist I.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Either: 1. A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in environmental science, environmental toxicology, biology, chemistry, ecology, limnology, engineering, or other natural or physical science related to the intent of the class.
AND
Two years of full-time, paid experience conducting, assessing, planning, and managing scientific investigations in one or more of the following areas: ecosystems, anthropogenic impacts on ecosystems, and wastewater treatment processes.
Or: 2. A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in environmental science, environmental toxicology, biology, chemistry, ecology, limnology, engineering, or other natural or physical science related to the intent of the class.
AND
One year of full-time paid experience employed by Sacramento Area Sewer District (SacSewer) the class of Environmental Specialist III or higher.
Or: 3. A Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in environmental science, environmental toxicology, biology, chemistry, ecology, limnology, engineering, or other natural or physical science related to the intent of the class.
