Are you an EEC certified preschool teacher that is passionate about creating a welcoming environment that nurtures every child's potential and development? If so, please consider applying and joining our Early Childhood Education team at the Sarah & Richard Hardy Center for Child Development under the YMCA of Central Massachusetts.
Under the supervision of the Lead Teacher, Preschool Teachers will oversee the preschool classrooms and implement curriculum which promotes social, cultural, educational, physical and emotional growth, while upholding important YMCA values like caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Job Responsibilities:
- Has knowledge of and maintains NAEYC and DEEC standards.
- Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans to support a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
- Supervises children, the classroom, Teacher Assistants, and all activities
- Ensures care and safety of children and engage parent volunteers in the classroom.
- Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child according to the required schedule.
- Conducts parent conferences, maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
- Maintains required program records including attendance, medical, and food service records.
- Attends and participates in family nights, staff meetings, staff trainings, and YMCA special events.
- Additional duties as required and assigned by a supervisor
Qualifications:
- Must have EEC Preschool Teacher certification, and meets the education and experience qualifications established by DEEC, NAEYC, and QRIS.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Associates degree preferred or evidence of enrollment in a college degree program.
- Must obtain and uphold relevant certifications to the position including CPR/AED/First Aid
- Able to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities and curriculum.
- Able to develop positive, authentic relationships with diverse populations & people from different backgrounds.
- Able to physically participate in children’s activities and evacuation drills, to move about the classroom and playground, take neighborhood walks, and lift children.
- Must present evidence of a physical examination and certification of good health every two years; as well as, evidence of a negative Mantoux test, and immunity from measles, mumps, and rubella.
**Experience working with children with trauma preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm
Pay: $18.50-$22.00/hour (depending on Education, Experience & Certifications) w/Hiring Bonus--New hires for EEC Full-Time teaching positions at Sarah & Richard Hardy Center for Child Development will get a $1000 bonus--of which, $250 will be paid upon first 90 days of employment, $250 at 180 days, and $500 on 1st anniversary.
