Are you a EEC Certified Toddler Teacher? Are you passionate about creating an environment that fosters every child's development and potential? If so, then please consider applying and joining our Early Childhood Care team at the Sarah & Richard Hardy Center for Child Development under the YMCA of Central Massachusetts.


Under the supervision of the Supervising Lead Teacher, provides direction for the classroom and implements curriculum which promotes social, cultural, educational, physical and emotional growth. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Has knowledge of and maintains NAEYC and DEEC standards.
  • Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans to support a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
  • Supervises the children, classroom, Teacher Assistants, and all activities. Ensures care and safety of children.
  • Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child according to the required schedule.
  • Conducts parent conferences, and maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents. Engages parents' participations in the program.
  • Maintains classroom and equipment.
  • Maintains required program records including attendance, medical, and food service records.
  • Posts schedule, curriculum and menus according to regulation.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, staff training, and YMCA special events.
  • Additional duties as required and assigned by a supervisor to support the overall mission of the YMCA and to ensure the success of the Child Care Department.


Qualifications:

  • Meets educational and experience qualifications established by DEEC, NAEYC, and QRIS.
  • At least 18 years of age. 
  • Preferred Associates degree or evidence of enrollment in a college degree program.
  • Must obtain, and keep current, certification in CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention.
  • Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities and curriculum.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.


Job Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt

Schedule: 40hrs/week. Monday-Friday from 9:00am-5:30 pm

Pay: $18.50/hour Full benefit package to include, generous PTO, access to facilities, Medical, Dental, Disability, Life, Vision, & Pet Insurance, and ability to participate 403B Retirement Savings Plan. Also, once fully vested, the YMCA will pay into a retirement account for you!

New hires for EEC Full-Time teaching positions at Sarah & Richard Hardy Center for Child Development will get a $1000 bonus--of which, $250 will be paid upon first 90 days of employment, $250 at 180 days, and $500 on 1st anniversary.
