Description

Full-Time | Competitive Pay | Employee-Owned Company

About Us
At Engineering Economics, Inc. (EEI), we’re not your average engineering firm. We’re an employee-owned company that thrives on innovation, collaboration, and delivering game-changing solutions for our clients. From Fortune 500 headquarters to major healthcare networks and universities, we optimize building performance, extend system lifecycles, and cut utility costs — all while making a positive impact on energy, water, waste, and carbon footprints.

We’re nationally recognized for our commissioning expertise, but our services go far beyond that — facility assessments, master planning, energy audits, technical program management, and more. And we don’t just deliver great work — we deliver it with integrity, passion, and a people-first mindset.

About the Role
We’re looking for a Project Engineer to join our Denver, CO team. This is your chance to work on high-profile projects that make a real difference. You’ll collaborate with talented colleagues, interact directly with clients, and ensure complex building systems perform at their absolute best.

From day one, you’ll have autonomy in your work and the support of a highly skilled team. You’ll be on the front lines of commissioning projects — testing, verifying, troubleshooting, and making sure every system operates exactly as it should.

Requirements

What You’ll Do

  • Participate in planning meetings with project stakeholders
  • Review equipment submittals and develop project-specific commissioning plans.
  • Create functional and pre-functional test forms, issue logs, and commissioning documentation.
  • Conduct site visits to observe and document MEP system performance.
  • Witness system start-ups, exercise systems through all modes, and resolve performance issues.
  • Coordinate with contractors and owners to ensure operational excellence.
  • Compile final reports, system manuals, and facility requirements documentation.
  • Support training for building operators and maintenance staff.
  • Assist with property condition assessments, energy benchmarking, and ventilation studies.

What We’re Looking For

  • Understanding of HVAC, building electrical systems, or related disciplines.
  • Ability to read and interpret MEP and architectural contract documents.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Flexibility to work independently or as part of a collaborative team.
  • Willingness to travel (local and out-of-state) for multi-day assignments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (EIT preferred)
  • 3+ years of relevant engineering experience

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: $88,000 - $108,000 annually, dependent on experience and location.
  • Competitive salary with performance bonuses.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
  • Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP).
  • Professional development opportunities.
