The Riverside County Office of Education (RCOE) is a service agency supporting the county’s 23 school districts that serve nearly 430,000 students. RCOE provides administrative support to districts, leads programs for preschool, special education, pregnant minor, corrections, migrant, and vocational students, and offers professional training, support and resources for teachers, administrators, and staff throughout Riverside County.
Job Summary
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The job of Certified Sign Language Interpreter is done for the purpose(s) of assisting in the instruction or supervision of hearing impaired students primarily in classroom settings (preschool, K-12 and adult); providing voice to sign and sign to voice support; assisting students, teachers and parents in communicating and serving as a resource to other school personnel requiring assistance with hearing impaired persons.
This position will include travel within Riverside County, including Beaumont and Murrieta.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of two years of experience utilizing sign language
*ASL Preferred
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent
CERTIFICATES/CREDENTIALS/LICENSES:
• Valid California driver’s license is required. Position duties will require frequent driving to RCOE school sites and/or offices throughout Riverside County
• Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent; in lieu of RID certification or equivalent, an educational interpreter shall have achieved a score of 4.0 or above on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA), the Educational Sign Skills Evaluation-Interpreter and Receptive (ESSE-I/R), or the National Association of the Deaf/American Consortium of Certified Interpreters (NAD/ACCI) assessment. If providing, Cued Language transliteration, a transliterator shall possess Testing/Evaluation and Certification Unit (TEC Unit) certification, or have achieved a score of 4.0 or above on the EIPA-Cued Speech
