Hybrid Special Education Teacher Consultant bei Kearsley Community Schools

Qualified candidates must possess a minimum of a Master's Degree from an accredited university and an appropriate State of Michigan Teaching Certificate with at least one of the following endorsements:

• Autism (SV);
• Cognitive Impairment (SA);
• Emotional Impairment (SE);
• Learning Disability (SM).

The Teacher Consultant/WBL Coordinator will serve in a consultative/supportive role with staff, students, parents, and representatives from local districts and community agencies. The Teacher Consultant/WBL Coordinator will provide consultation to classroom staff in areas such as instructional methods, evaluation, problem solving, and work-based learning coordination. The candidate must be adept with technology and ready to consider emergent techniques to enhance student achievement. 

Candidates will also:

• Provide teachers resources and training related to instruction and curriculum;
• Assist teachers with designing instruction based on assessment data;
• Maintain appropriate and accurate records;
• Provide coaching and modeling of evidence-based practices to staff;
• Demonstrates knowledge of using a variety of assessment tools
• Participates in District MTSS meetings when appropriate;
• Serve in a consultative capacity with individuals and groups, including teachers, parents, and students;
• Coordinate and attend MET and IEPT meetings for students assigned to their caseload, including students with 504 plans;
• Train teachers on Transition Plan writing and monitor IEPs for transition plan compliance
• Secure WBL opportunities for students with IEPs and/or 504s.
• Monitor WBL sites, and document all required WBL paperwork.
• Partner with appropriate agencies to support opportunities for students. 
• Prepare reports to facilitate and document student services;
• Knowledge of disabilities and their educational implications;
• Provide instructional and consultative services for students; 
• Strong working knowledge of special education state and federal laws, rules, and regulations;
• Demonstrate mental/physical ability and stamina for the requirements of the position.
