About the Department
The Office of the Governor is seeking a highly motivated, digital savvy individual to join the Communications team as a Deputy Press Secretary. This position will coordinate with the Communications Director in preparing social media content, press releases and other forms of written and visual communication.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong social media content skills are required. Must be able to create compelling content and effectively manage the governor’s social media accounts.
This position requires understanding how social media platforms work and having the ability to strategically use the platforms to communicate the administration's goals and priorities.
Knowledge and understanding of Alaska's public policy issues is strongly desired
Excellent writing and editing skills
Ability and willingness to work outside of regular office hours, travel as needed, including to Juneau for brief periods during the legislative session.
Ability to analyze, interpret, prioritize, and process complex information
Ability to shoot and edit photos and videos is desired
Position Duties
Bachelor's degree, preferably in journalism or communications.
And
A minimum of two years' experience in public relations and/or journalism.
Or
At least six years' experience in public relations and/or journalism.
