Zach Gordon Youth Services is looking for a Youth Development Leader II.

We are looking for someone who enjoys mentoring and coaching youth to learn new things. We are looking for someone who is flexible and enjoys working in a busy environment. We are looking for someone who is flexible and a self-starter, who is good at and interested in collaborating with multiple community partners and volunteers to create fun and prevention focused afterschool programming.

WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION
This position will be based at Thunder Mountain Middle School during the school year and works approx. 2-3 hours a day working from 2:30-5:30pm, Monday-Thursday, In the summer, this position will support other Zach Gordon Youth Center (ZGYC) programming, such as camp, drop-in activities, or other special summer programming, depending on the candidate’s strengths and background.
Position Duties
This position will support BAM programming, including leading activities with youth and supporting volunteers and partners while they lead activities.
This position is responsible for ensuring youth are supervised in a safe and supportive manner.
You will assist in scheduling activities, publicizing activities and providing support to volunteers. You will prepare snacks for all programs and prepare necessary supplies.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Graduation from high school or the equivalent;
AND
any combination of work experience or post-secondary education totaling six (6) months in any field.
Substitute:
Two (2) courses from an accredited college in a human related field may substitute for experience
License and certifications:
A valid drivers license at time of appointment is preferred but not required.
First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of appointment;
Note:
Under Alaska Statute 12.62.160 (9) Appointments to this position are offered conditionally, pending the results of a criminal records report (Non-FBI). Human Resources evaluates the results to ensure the applicant does not have any convictions that result in a direct nexus to the primary duties involving supervising minors. Applicants who materially misrepresent any information provided in the employment process will be excluded from further consideration or may be dismissed if already employed.
