Day to day as a Director, Community Schools
The Director of Community Schools at United Way for Southeastern Michigan (UWSEM) is a pivotal role designed for an advocate of children who possesses extensive experience with public school districts. This position requires a deep passion for equity, a strong grasp of data fluency, and familiarity with the community schools model. As the Director, you will lead UWSEM's support for community schools and the newly established School District Alliance, ensuring that essential resources are effectively connected to schools. Your responsibilities will include coordinating support across multiple stakeholders, offering technical assistance to schools and districts, and strategically aligning resources to meet specific needs. You will use data to assess community and student requirements, propose actionable solutions, and engage in continuous improvement efforts.
Additionally, this role involves contributing to the strategic planning for UWSEM's Youth Opportunity team, making a meaningful impact on education and social work in the region.

Additionally, strong communication skills, collaborative problem-solving abilities, and a deep commitment to equity will be vital to connect multiple stakeholders and align resources effectively, ensuring community schools have the tools needed to foster student success.
Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
- Bachelor's degree in social work Education or related field required; master's degree or other advanced degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience working with community
- corporations and/or schools with at least 2 years of direct experience working within public school districts; experience within a central office preferred
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data and use it to drive decisions and improve outcomes
- Experience writing and/or managing grants preferred
