ART JOB DESCRIPTION

General Scope of Responsibility
The ISAAC Art teacher provides instruction in visual and advanced art to students.

Relationship Within the Organization
The Art Teacher is directly responsible to the principal, associate principal, or designee.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Supports ISAAC’s Core Values and Beliefs About Learning and the Vision of the Graduate
Utilizes expertise in Art to revise the curriculum to meet the level of rigor for all students in a cultural and diverse classroom
Instructs students through lessons that are engaging and motivates all students to succeed in the National Arts standards
Adapts Art material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments and lesson plans that guide and challenge students
Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with ISAAC’s instructional philosophy and congruent with the goals of the school
Provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students
Evaluates the academic and social growth of students, keeps accurate and appropriate school records, and other recordkeeping activities as necessary
Encourages students to think independently and to express original ideas.
Promotes student discussion through the daily use of Accountable Talk
Evaluates each student’s progress in meeting the course standards for Art
Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment
Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve learning and health problems
Communicates with parents and SRBI Team on student progress
Supervises students in assigned out-of-classroom activities during the work day
Participates in faculty committees and engages in Professional Learning Community activities
Administers summative assessments in accordance with the curriculum and SDE requirements
Models professional and ethical practices and behaviors in all activities
Performs other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

Classroom teaching experience and proven record of high achievement with middle school students preferred.
Bachelor’s degree from a competitive college or university; Master’s degree a plus.
Certification: Valid CT Art Certification (042)
