Job Summary: Assists a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of students with disabilities; monitors and reports student progress regarding behavioral and academic performance.

Salary Range: Range 5: $ 17.77 - $ 19.84 / Hourly Rate

Hours: 5.5 Hours/Day, 5 Days/Week*

*Temporary position during the 2025/26 School Year

Minimum Qualifications & Abilities:

High school diploma or equivalent.
AA Degree or 48 Semester Units or meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through an assessment, the knowledge and ability to assist in instruction – (CODESP Exam).
Knowledge of basic concepts of child growth, development, and behavior.
Ability to reinforce instruction to individual or small groups of students as directed by the teacher.
Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with teachers, students, parents, and administrators.
Be capable of physically assisting students with special needs as may be required (positioning, lifting, transferring, etc.).
Demonstrate an understanding, patient, and receptive attitude toward children with disabilities.
Ability to appropriately manage student behavior and guide children toward more acceptable social behaviors.

Essential Functions:

Implements lesson plans developed by the teacher.
Assists with group or one-on-one instruction in a variety of subjects or activities.
Checks accuracy of students’ work and presents additional assignments within parameters established by the teacher.
Monitors children and provides for their physical and hygienic needs for the purpose of maintaining a clean, healthy, and safe environment.
Assists in teaching, monitoring, and motivating students with disabilities.
Operates a variety of classroom and office equipment, including, but not limited to a computer, copier, paper cutter, and other standard office equipment.
Assists students with appropriate social behaviors.
Assists in managing the behavior of children through the use of a variety of reinforcement techniques.
Assures the health and safety of students by following established practices and procedures.
Maintains the learning environment in a safe, orderly, and clean manner.
Participates in parent conferences and performs interpretation functions as requested.
Assists in the preparation of instructional materials.
Supports the teacher with data collection for the purpose of documenting student progress.
Assists students in using alternative communication modes.
Performs other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee.
