Supervises a group of marine engineering and maintenance personnel in the operation, preventative maintenance, repair, and overhaul of large motor ferry vessels, landings, workdocks, shore facilities, systems, and other equipment afloat and ashore. Work requires frequent contact with private entities and various local, state, and federal advisory and regulatory bodies. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline. Relevant work experience may be substituted for a degree on a year-for-year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
- 5 years in marine engineering operations. (Experience can be satisfied by full-time or prorated part-time equivalent). Related graduate-level education may be substituted for experience on a year-by-year basis.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
- Must have required US Coast Guard (USCG) certifications and documents appropriate for the position and vessel being operated.
- Must have or obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within 90 days of hire.
