About the Department

Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a Crime Prevention Technician who is innovative, driven, and passionate about using crime prevention techniques to solve problems and achieve business goals.

The Crime Prevention Technician reports to a Police Sergeant.  The primary function of the position is to develop, implement, coordinate and promote crime prevention methods to civic organizations, businesses and residents.  The position also provides assistance by presenting the program and serving as a resource to improve public safety and address safety concerns.

Some of the essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Designs, administers and manages public safety and community outreach programs.
  • Provide expertise and consultation to the public on various police related issues through presentations and social media. Create promotional materials for programs.
  • Administers crime free multi-family housing program by training property managers and owners and completing inspections of properties.
  • Participates in the Police department coordination of Gilbert sponsored special events by providing recommendations on security and safety for the event.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 

Position Duties

The ideal candidate for this position will be passionate about law enforcement.  We're looking for an outcome-oriented individual to deliver and constantly improve crime prevention programs that will ensure an outstanding community experience.

This position requires someone who is adept at finding common sense, well-reasoned approaches to difficult problems.  Strong written and verbal communications are required as well as emotional intelligence and interpersonal savvy.

  • Associate's Degree or higher in criminal justice or a related field
  • Three years of public relations experience in a law enforcement work environment
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
  • Valid Arizona Driver License
  • May be required to work some weekends and evenings.
  • Candidates being considered for hire will be required to pass an extensive screening process that includes a polygraph examination, background investigation, drug screen, and medical and psychological evaluations. This process may take several months.
This position is At-Will and is FLSA Non-Exempt - eligible for overtime compensation.
