Duties and Responsibilities
The Research Assistant will support the development and commissioning of beam instrumentation systems for accelerator-based particle physics experiments.
Responsibilities include testing and calibration of readout electronics, development of custom hardware for detector readout, and implementation of software for real-time monitoring and data acquisition. The RA will also engage in collaborative work with external partners outside UH Manoa and contribute to documentation and presentations at internal and external meetings.
Minimum Qualifications
B.S. in physics or equivalent. Full time graduate student in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, College of Natural Sciences, UHM. Must have knowledge of physics, statistical methods, and computer programming. Skills in applying basic laboratory techniques to answer research questions; ability to organize tasks and to work independently; ability to write scientific reports; excellent oral and written communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications
Prior experience in experimental particle physics, particularly detector R&D, electronics testing, or beam instrumentation.
