Director of Building Operations / Maintenance Director / Building Services Director

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Director of Building Operations / Maintenance Director / Building Services Director:

  • Ensure that the property is maintained in a clean, safe and comfortable manner.
  • Responsible, with your team, for the maintenance of the building, grounds and building systems; including all electrical, mechanical and other equipment.  
  • You and your team will assist with room readiness to include painting, millwork and cabinet repairs, carpet cleaning and minor plumbing and electrical fixes.
  • Supervise the maintenance technicians and the environmental services (housekeeping) team members.
  • Cultivate and manage vendor relationships.
  • Create, maintain and improve new or existing procedures, schedules, task lists, managerial templates, etc.
  • Schedule and oversee required inspections, repairs and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Communicate with Residents, Management and Staff regularly regarding any (and prior to any) issues that may affect the use of any service, amenity or system.
  • Identify, provide pricing assistance and project coordination assistance for all capital expense projects at the community. 

Qualifications of a Director of Building Operations / Maintenance Director / Building Services Director:

  • Must be knowledgeable and capable in the areas of electrical, structural, painting, plumbing and HVAC preventative maintenance/minor repair duties.
  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Prefer two (2) years’ experience in building and maintenance or janitorial work.
  • Prefer two (2) years of experience in supervision and leading a team of employees.
  • High level of initiative and self-motivation with an emphasis on establishing and understanding processes with a strong attention to details.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with seniors, their family members and staff in a caring, compassionate manner.
  • Ability to effectively plan, prioritize and manage tasks to completion in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

  • Work Environment:  Active hands-on role within our senior living community.  
  • Location:  Salt Lake City, UT
