The Axis Cementing Engineer is responsible for the design, planning, and execution of cementing operations in oil and gas serving operations. This involves ensuring proper zonal isolation, casing support, and wellbore integrity. This role will oversee the appropriate cement slurries and additives, analyze well conditions, and troubleshoot issues during cementing operations working closely with the cementing lab and workover services teams ensuring adherence to strict safety and environmental guidelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Designing the cementing process, including selecting the right cement type, additives, and slurry designs to meet specific well requirements and conditions.
- Developing detailed plans for cementing operations, including equipment requirements, logistics, and safety procedures. Overseeing the execution of cementing operations on-site, ensuring proper mixing, pumping, and placement of cement.
- Ensuring the wellbore is properly sealed and isolated to prevent fluid migration and maintain well integrity throughout the well's life.
- Identifying and resolving any issues that may arise during the cementing process, such as equipment malfunctions, slurry problems, or unexpected downhole conditions.
- Working closely with drilling engineers, geologists, and other specialists to ensure a cohesive and successful well service process.
- Adhering to all relevant safety regulations and environmental guidelines during cementing operations.
- Monitoring and testing cement slurries to ensure they meet the required specifications and quality standards.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering, chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 - 8 years industry experience in cementing and workover services and with advanced knowledge of well design and construction fundamentals.
- Strong understanding of cement chemistry, slurry properties, wellbore hydraulics, and cementing equipment.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical challenges that arise during well service operations.
- Effective communication, both written and verbal, for collaborating with teams, reporting on operations, and interacting with regulatory bodies.
- Strict adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations during all phases of well service operations.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Experience with cementing simulation software, pressure testing tools, and data analysis software may be required.
- Problem-solver, adaptable to changing conditions, and dedicated to upholding safety and environmental standards.
- Role may require physical exertion and working outdoors in various weather conditions
