About the Role:

The Senior Ultrasound Technician plays a critical role in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging services within a healthcare setting. This position is responsible for performing advanced ultrasound examinations, interpreting preliminary results, and collaborating closely with physicians to aid in accurate diagnosis and patient care planning. The role demands a thorough understanding of sonographic techniques and protocols, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the imaging process. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program.
  • Current certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or equivalent credential.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology relevant to sonographic imaging.
  • Ability to operate ultrasound equipment proficiently and adhere to safety protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced certifications in specialized ultrasound areas such as vascular technology (RVT) or obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN).
  • Experience working in a hospital or large clinical setting with diverse patient populations.
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience within a diagnostic imaging department.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and imaging software.
  • Participation in professional organizations related to sonography or medical imaging.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive ultrasound examinations using state-of-the-art imaging equipment across various specialties including abdominal, obstetric, vascular, and musculoskeletal imaging.
  • Analyze sonographic images for quality and accuracy, providing preliminary findings to radiologists and other healthcare providers.
  • Maintain detailed patient records and ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards related to ultrasound procedures.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to discuss imaging results and contribute to patient diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Supervise and mentor junior ultrasound technicians, providing guidance on best practices, equipment operation, and patient care techniques.
  • Manage ultrasound equipment maintenance and troubleshoot technical issues to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to stay current with advancements in ultrasound technology and clinical practices.
