Educate Texas (EDTX), an initiative of Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT), exists to help solve the most significant challenges facing public education. Our vision is for all Texans to have the education they need to earn a thriving, living wage, pursue a purposeful career, and realize their dreams for themselves, their families, and their communities. 

EDTX operates as a public-private partnership with CFT, one of the largest community foundations in Texas. This partnership is now over 20 years strong. CFT’s mission, "Thriving communities for all," is pursued through investments in health, wealth, living, and learning.  

 

Your role: 

The Deputy Director, Programs is responsible for the implementation and support of educational programs undertaken by Educate Texas. This includes continuous monitoring, analysis, documentation, and reporting on the performance of STEM and college and career readiness programs, grants, and contracts. The Deputy Director, Programs will report to the Director, Programs and work closely with Educate Texas Staff, partner schools, coaches, and philanthropic partners to insure fidelity of implementation of the program. This position is located in Dallas and requires approximately 25% travel. 

 

What you’ll do: 

  • Build and manage strong partnerships with districts, higher education partners and business/industry partners to foster community-centered support for STEM thinking, teaching and learning across 
  • Collaborate with district teams to design and implement cohesive post-secondary access strategies that increases college and career readiness among STEM district graduates
  • Serve as lead liaison for partner districts, ensuring alignment of goals, data-sharing, communication and student engagement strategies.
  • Deliver, document, and record technical assistance provided to districts and schools by partners, coaches, and staff to build capacity for school design, implementation, and reform
  • Consult with and support schools in continuous improvement processes centered on development of curriculum, instruction, and general effectiveness
  • Develop tools and protocols for the scheduling, support, and management of professional development opportunities (online and site-based)
  • Participate in the assessment and evaluation of program components, organizational capacity, and results of related programs
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships within the organization and with partner organizations
  • Review coaching reports to evaluate the implementation depth and provide feedback to coaches
  • Manage and perform day-to-day activities for your area
  • Implement strategy developed by supervisors and Educate Texas Leadership and contribute to discussions regarding long-term strategy 
  • Support budget oversight and maintenance, fundraising efforts, and communication pieces for your area
  • Support cross-functional initiatives that bridge the gap between high school programming and college and career persistence

Experience you bring: 

  • Master’s degree required, with relevant graduate education preferred
  • 5 or more years experience with curriculum development and school leadership
  • Project management experience with significant team and/or client management responsibility
  • Demonstrated success designing and facilitating professional development for Pk-12 or higher education teams
  • Knowledge of secondary and post-secondary education and its infrastructure and regulations in Texas preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of national research on professional development practices      
  • Excellent communicator capable of presenting initiatives effectively to partners, participants, and the public
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage objectives and program deliverables and lead a team through a project plan for assigned area
  • Proven ability to build and manage high-impact school and community partnerships
  • Team player who can work with partners and participants to support Educate Texas’s success
  • Must be able to travel 25% of work time. 
  • Effectively model and demonstrate CFT’s core competencies which include Collaboration, Impact and Problem Solving, Integrity and Accountability, Learning, and Internal and External Service
