About the Department

The Marketing, Parks, and Recreation Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and executing marketing initiatives to enhance public engagement and promote the recreational offerings of the department. This role involves developing and implementing marketing strategies, fostering community relationships, organizing events, and ensuring effective communication to increase participation and awareness of parks and recreation programs, services, and events. The Community Engagement Coordinator will work closely with local community members, organizations, and stakeholders to ensure the department's initiatives align with community needs and values. 

  • Key Responsibilities: 

    • Marketing Strategy Development: 

    • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing plan for the Parks and Recreation Department to promote programs, facilities, and events. 

    • Design and implement marketing campaigns across various platforms (social media, print, digital, etc.) to increase visibility and community involvement. 

    • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure messaging is consistent, on-brand, and aligns with department goals. 

    • Community Engagement: 

    • Build and nurture relationships with local community groups, schools, businesses, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration and engagement in Parks and Recreation programs. 

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for community members seeking information about recreational services and events. 

    • Host and coordinate community meetings, focus groups, and surveys to gather feedback and understand community needs. 

    • Event Planning and Coordination: 

    • Plan, promote, and manage special events, classes, and community activities to encourage participation and enhance the public's experience. 

    • Oversee the logistics of events, including securing vendors, volunteers, and partnerships to ensure smooth execution. 

    • Track and evaluate the success of events and programs to improve future planning and engagement. 

    • Social Media and Content Creation: 

    • Create and manage social media content and campaigns that highlight parks, recreation programs, and events. 

    • Monitor online conversations and respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner. 

    • Develop and write content for newsletters, websites, press releases, and promotional materials. 

    • Data Analysis and Reporting: 

    • Analyze marketing and engagement data to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and community programs. 

    • Prepare reports to share insights, trends, and recommendations with department leadership. 

    • Adjust strategies as necessary based on data-driven findings to optimize outreach efforts.
