About the Department
Forsyth County Emergency Services is seeking a Property Specialist to provide daily support to EMS. Primary duties include performing preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and testing on all medical equipment utilized by the department. Will also perform supply warehouse functions including inventory, distribution, and shipping/receiving, and restocking of all ambulances and emergency vehicles and, distribute supplies and equipment to FCES satellite stations. This position will also fit, distribute, and maintain uniforms and departmental personal protective equipment and complete OSHA required equipment/apparatus decontamination.
This position is subject to working nights, weekends and holidays as required.
Position Duties
The successful candidate must be customer oriented, well organized, have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with a varied customer base and have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Considerable knowledge of personal computers and software;
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with internal and external customers;
- Must have organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to perform preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and testing on all medical equipment
- Knowledge to perform supply warehouse functions including inventory, distribution, and
shipping/receiving, and restocking of peak-load ambulances
- Ability to coordinate and shuttle apparatus for repairs/preventative maintenance
- Ability to distribute supplies and equipment to FCEMS satellite stations
- Ability to maintain availability of clean equipment and laundry for units
- Ability to complete OSHA required equipment/apparatus decontamination.
- Ability to lift 20-50 lbs occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
- Maintaining a specific license such as a driver's license in good standing, without a lapse or loss of a privilege to drive in compliance with North Carolina law, and in compliance with applicable DOT standards for commercial motor vehicle drivers if required to perform the duties assigned to the position.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or GED required.
- Must possess a valid drivers license.
- Previous experience in warehouse functions preferred.
- Previous experience in the medical field preferred.
Other Qualifications
- Receive and document supplies, organize the warehouse area, maintain stock by ordering and recommending orders and distributing orders to all stations.
- Receive and distribute equipment to and from ambulances and document equipment location.
- Troubleshoot defective equipment and recommend corrective action.
- Ensure that all equipment in the department buildings is in good working order such as water
hoses, car soap dispensers, washer/dryer, ice machine, garage bay doors and openers.
- Troubleshoot vehicle problems and coordinate with fleet garage for repairs as needed.
- Ensure that all equipment exchanged has been properly decontaminated.
- Ensure work area is kept neat and orderly.
- Performs other work as required.
