The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for managing and executing various tax compliance and planning activities in a timely and accurate manner. This includes oversight of property, sales and use, gross receipts, income, and excise taxes. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Provide day-to-day support for multi-state sales tax activities.
- Prepare and file sales and use tax returns across multiple jurisdictions.
- Compile and analyze financial sales data.
- Maintain and update the company's tax database, including current sales tax rates.
- Monitor changes in U.S. state tax legislation and research emerging issues.
- Remit corporate income tax payments.
- Respond to notices from state and corporate tax authorities.
- Assist in gathering documentation for state and corporate tax audits.
- Manage registration, renewal, and cancellation of sales tax permits and business licenses.
- Review accounts payable invoices to ensure proper sales/use tax treatment.
- Ensure timely and accurate compliance with state and local tax regulations.
- Assist with personal property and real estate tax filings and payments.
- Review and communicate results of sales tax testing, as needed.
- Prepare month-end accruals and adjusting journal entries.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations to ensure accurate ledger maintenance.
- Reconcile and analyze customer deposit accounts; communicate findings to operations.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Provide documentation for external audits and corporate income tax filings.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
