Position Summary 

The Physical Therapist is responsible for evaluating a patient’s rehabilitation potential, establishing realistic goals, and planning and administering a treatment program which best meets that patient’s individual functional capacity and tolerance to achieve that goal. All Physical Therapy treatments and modalities are in accordance with established policies and procedures, maintaining the highest degree of quality patient care at all times.

Position Summary Expanded:

Under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, (“The Unity Bill”) this position is considered a “Safety-sensitive position. “Safety-sensitive” is defined to include “any job that includes tasks or duties that could affect the safety and health of the employee performing the task or others.” Employees working in “safety-sensitive” roles are subject to this exception and subject to disciplinary action in the event of a positive test for marijuana or its metabolites.


Position Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervisory Positions may include:

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), 

Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA)


Position Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

· Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret reports and documents. 

· Ability to make presentations before top management, public groups, and staff regarding infectious diseases. 

· Ability to work independently, with no direction.


Education and/or Experience 

· Graduate of accredited school of Physical Therapy.

· Two (2) years pervious experience as Physical Therapist in a hospital setting.

· Previous supervisory experience preferred.


Licensure/Certification

· Current license as a Physical Therapist in the state of Oklahoma.

· BLS and PALS Certified

· *Proof of all required License(s) and Certification(s) is due at time of hire.

Requirements


  • Organize and conduct medically prescribed Physical Therapy programs.
  • Plans individual therapy programs for each patient. 
  • Develop and maintain a good working relationship with co-workers and staff, as well as other healthcare professionals to assure services and activities can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the patients.  
  • Apply diagnostic and prognostic muscle, nerve, joint, and functional ability test. 
  • Evaluate, record and report patient progress. Teach patients how to use therapy equipment.
  • Assure that patients, family members and guests understand and follow established policies and procedures at all times.  
  • Direct and supervise the patient care activities of PTA’s, COTA’s Kinesiologist and outpatient service coordinators. 
  • Read and evaluate physician’s orders and patient’s chart information to determine patients’ condition and treatment protocols. 
  • Assure that the gym is maintained in a clean and safe manner for patient comfort and convenience and ensures that all necessary equipment and supplies are sterilized and maintained to perform such duties/services.
  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of  work practices, emergency procedures and personal protective equipment to protect self from exposure to chemical and infectious hazards. 
  • Exhibits willingness to be flexible and operate under stressful situations.
  • Ensures that all documentation is completed within a satisfactory time frame and follows departmental guidelines.
  •  Participates Therapeutic Committee;  Prepares reports for Quality Improvement Committee.
  • Utilize available work time to complete all required task within established time frames or schedules.
  • Explains treatment procedures to patient thoroughly and answers any questions they may have.
  • Clean, sterilize, check and maintain therapy equipment. Follows and enforces safety rules applying equipment.
