JOB TITLE: Specialist, C&I - Reading Academy

Pay Grade: A02
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Lead in the e?ective implementation of the Reading Academies to ensure compliance with state requirements and to provide quality professional development experiences for participants.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certi?cation:
? Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction or Administration from an accredited university
? Valid Texas teaching certi?cate
Experience:
? Five years of teaching experience in the area of literacy with a proven track record of measurable student achievement
? Served as a teacher in K-3 for three or more years across career preferred
? Coaching experience in literacy with a proven track record of measurable student achievement
? Experience implementing new initiative or systems
? Successful completion of the Texas Education Reading Agency’s Cohort Leader Screening
? Campus Coach, Campus Administration, or Central O?ce experience preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
? Broad-based knowledge of e?ective literacy coaching
? Broad-based knowledge of e?ectively delivering professional development
? Broad-based knowledge of data-driven instructional practices
? Broad-based knowledge of how to motivate other adults to achieve a common goal
? Exemplary written and oral communication skills that is respectful and inclusive
MAJOR RESPONSIBITILIES AND DUTIES
1. Develop a comprehensive district plan for providing the required training for current and future district sta?
2. Oversee the selection process for hiring district Reading Academy cohort leaders
3. Coordinate the Reading Academies, including registration, logistical support, and technical assistance
4. Lead the team of district Cohort Leaders through regular meetings, communication, and check-ins
5. Monitor the implementation of the Reading Academies content delivery and coaching cycles as designed by the Texas Education Agency (TEA)
6. Serve as a cohort leader for Reading Academy participants
7. Develop and implement a plan for tracking and maintaining records of sta? members who have successfully completed the Reading Academy
8. Attend mandatory training as determined by TEA and/or the district’s designated provider
9. Coordinate travel for cohort leaders
10. Conduct program evaluations as determined by TEA and/or the district’s designated provider
11. Other duties as assigned
