Job Summary:
Under limited supervision, uses specialized knowledge and skills obtained through experience and training to organize and coordinate the Alternative Investments Research & Due Diligence Team. Creates and maintains complex data spreadsheets, templates, and reports. Utilizes various systems to monitor the ratings and research opinions of third party money managers. Acts as the primary contact for questions and research requests from outside professional money managers and Financial Advisors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Serves as the central point of contact for outside investment manager representatives to determine eligibility for inclusion on the Alternative Investments platform. Responds to general research support questions from managers regarding Alternative Investments products.
· Coordinates and organizes calls and meetings (both internal and external) for the Alternative Investments Research & Due Diligence Team.
· Creates and maintains complex data spreadsheets, templates, and reports.
· Responds to general requests for investment commentary in response to questions from the Alternative Investments Sales Team and Financial Advisors.
· Coordinates the RFI process from all third party managers on the Alternative Investments platform for Manager Research and Compliance.
· Inputs data and maintains databases using eVestment, Bloomberg, Cobalt, Cambridge and FactSet. These systems are used by the Research Team and for client proposals for sales and Financial Advisors.
· Maintains various Due Diligence materials and research reports that include research opinions and performance data. This information is published on a regular basis, and includes RJNet design and maintenance.
· Coordinates the ongoing research schedules for potential and existing managers on the Alternative Investments platform for the Research Team. Coordination includes organizing on-site travel and home office visits.
· Validates performance returns that are generated versus individual money managers’ institutional composites and generates dispersion reports for Alternative Investments Compliance.
· Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
· The Alternative Investments product suite sufficient to communicate details to third party managers.
· Fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of Due Diligence and Alternative Investments Operations.
· Fundamental investment concepts, practices and procedures used in the securities industry.
· Investment management operations with a focus on security valuation, portfolio accounting, or performance measurement.
· Quantitative and qualitative understanding of the investment management business and performance measurement.
Skill in:
· Performance calculations.
· Critically analyzing client account activity.
· Operating standard office equipment and using required software application to produce correspondence, reports, electronic communication, and spreadsheets.
Ability to:
· Understand the performance drivers in various Alternative Investments asset classes.
· Generate and analyze large data sets while using critical thinking skills to scrutinize the performance output for accuracy.
· Exhibit strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, as this position will serve as a point of contact for third party managers requesting detailed information regarding all aspects of Alternative Investments products.
· Organize, manage and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with frequently changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
· Attend to detail while maintaining the big picture orientation.
· Meet many deadlines to provide quarterly and monthly data to internal associates and external Financial Advisors and professional money manager contacts.
· Work independently as well as in a team environment.
Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:
· Associate’s Degree in related field and a minimum of four (4) years of experience at a broker/dealer or investment firm working in investment management operations with a focus on security valuation, portfolio accounting, or performance measurement.
