Aurora Energy Research is looking for talented and passionate individuals to join our team in Brazil through our internship program. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of cutting-edge solutions in the energy sector, while learning and growing in an intellectually stimulating, collaborative, and international environment.

This internship is open to students currently enrolled in undergraduate programs (Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Molecular Sciences, Economics, Business Administration, and other quantitative fields at top-tier universities).

Based in our São Paulo office, selected candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to one of our three core business areas — Energy Advisory, Energy Research, and Energy Modelling

Below you can find a summary of each area within the program:

1. Modelling
You will contribute to Aurora’s energy modelling efforts by building analytical and computational tools, improving modelling methodologies, and developing scenarios that shape our market forecasts.
This area focuses on energy commodities — particularly electricity — and is ideal for those who enjoy solving complex problems using data, code, and advanced quantitative techniques. You’ll work alongside our research and advisory teams to transform model outputs into actionable insights for clients.

2. Advisory

You will contribute to Aurora by developing analyses and conveying insights to enhance clients’ decision-making. This role involves active participation in all aspects of client engagements: identifying key issues, forming hypotheses, conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis, and synthesising conclusions into actionable recommendations. Successful candidates will combine strong analytical skills, curiosity, and team spirit. They will benefit from a dynamic and supportive environment, gaining autonomy and visibility while working on high-impact decisions in the energy sector.

3. Research

You will have the opportunity to influence major decisions in the energy sector and grow into an industry expert under the guidance of directors with extensive experience at leading global advisory firms. In this area, you’ll be responsible for delivering strategic insights and market intelligence through rigorous research and analysis. You will work closely with other teams to produce content that supports both internal priorities and external client needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop timely and rigorous quantitative analyses to enhance clients’ decision-making
  • Interact closely with our modelling team, structuring economic problems into quantifiable analyses and deriving insights from the model results
