The City of Bellaire is seeking a skilled and motivated Equipment Operator to join our Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection crew within our Public Works Department. EQUIPMENT OPERATOR I - WATER DISTRIBUTION & COLLECTION’s role within the big picture of the City’s overall success.

Operates heavy equipment in the repair and maintenance of the City's wastewater facilities, including waterways, pipelines, and drainage structures.

 

EQUIPMENT OPERATOR I - WATER DISTRIBUTION & COLLECTION functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Operational Responsibilities:
    • Operate specialized equipment for water and wastewater infrastructure.
    • Independently perform tasks related to water distribution and sewer collection.
    • Assist field crews with installation, repair, and maintenance of water and wastewater systems.
  • Wastewater System Maintenance:
    • Operate specialized equipment for water and wastewater infrastructure.
    • Perform tasks related to water distribution and sewer collection.
    • Assist field crews with installation, repair, and maintenance of water and wastewater systems.
  • Knowledge of Geographic Layout:
    • Develop progressive knowledge of the geographic layout of the City.
    • Refer to city maps, blueprints, or manuals for work assignments.
  • Vehicle Maintenance and Inspection:
    • Maintain and inspect vehicles, performing safety checks daily.
    • Keep records of work performed for supervisors, including vehicle checklists and repair reports.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
    • Adhere to City and departmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
    • Follow safety practices, including the proper use of personal protective equipment.
    • Investigate citizen complaints, recommend appropriate action, and provide information to routine inquiries.
  • Contribute to the team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications


Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: 2 years of previous relevant work experience is required.

Supervisory: No previous supervisory experience is required.

Certifications/Licenses: Valid Texas Driver’s License (CDL preferred) and TCEQ Class II Collections or Class C Water license
