Position Title: Production Supervisor
Purpose: The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising department operations to ensure production is operating in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. Responsible for meeting production schedules and coordinating daily work assignments. The Supervisor will be the driver behind product/process safety, quality, delivery, and morale. Accountable for the continuous improvement of the assigned department as well as training and development of direct reports.
Essential functions:
- All work must be performed in a safe and efficient manner.
- Helps investigate injuries, accidents, or near misses throughout the plant and provides documentation to EHS Manager and Human Resources.
- Takes a leadership role in production and safety meetings and relays safety matters to the department employees.
- Work with Group Leads to establish standardized processes with current and new jobs.
- Coach and mentor Group Leads to provide regular performance feedback and relevant communications as to the overall performance of the shift. Establish and build relationships with Group Leads to drive positive results.
- Work with trainers to instruct and train employees in the performance of current and new responsibilities. Ensure that training is documented.
- Maintain discipline, monitor, and coach employees regarding attendance and evaluate performance. Recommend promotions, pay adjustments, performance coaching, disciplinary action, and termination. Prepare “corrective action” documents as appropriate.
- Measure performance and quality; puts actions in place using problem solving techniques.
- Continually assesses the limitations of equipment capacity and materials supply to directly make adjustments to associates for optimization of manufacturing output.
- Communicates daily with the Production Supervisor and Group Leads of the next shift on current production issues.
- Resolves operating difficulties and enforces company rules. Ensures department personnel practices conform to the policies and programs in the Employee Handbook.
- Supervises setting up the area for production, making sure that job assignments and instructions are understood, and that enough quantities of materials and supplies are available.
- Provides work direction to production team members, referring to production schedule to determine department operations. Monitor changes in procedures. Set up work by priority and job specifications. Reassign employees to correspond to the workflow and to production needs to meet due dates, hold them accountable for performance.
- Anticipate production needs and contact the appropriate personnel to carry out the changes necessary to maintain an efficient level of production. Help resolve set up problems. Monitor equipment to ensure that it is operating properly and is set according to production needs. Ensure that the equipment is receiving the proper preventative maintenance service and care. Notify maintenance to make adjustments or repairs when necessary.
- Ensure that in process inspections are conducted at frequencies according to quality problems, product, sample, etc. by conducting periodic audits.
- Continually monitor machines to ensure that parts meet quality standards, production standards are being met, housekeeping is being maintained, and safe practices are being followed.
- Complete required paperwork and documentation related to department activities and operations. Perform all IQMS functions related to production and have a thorough understanding of the transactions (material flow, tracking and movement, scanning, reports, data accuracy, reporting, monitoring, recognizing incorrect data, etc.).
- Monitor the cleaning and preparation of work areas.
- Drives continuous improvement idea generation and supports the communication and implementation of initiatives.
- Follows ISO guidelines as they relate to specific job activities.
- Coordinate activities with the appropriate Business Unit Manager.
- Lead employee retention efforts by maintaining a productive and talented workforce, reducing turnover by fostering a positive work atmosphere, promote engagement, showing appreciation to employees and encouraging teamwork.
- Train, mentor, and lead by example to build constructive relationships by taking the initiative to make things better.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
MENTAL/VISUAL REQUIREMENTS:
Flow of work and character of duties involve normal mental and visual attention to assist with machine set up, monitor product quality and production, and direct and coordinate department personnel in the performance of job duties.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Little physical effort required performing normal job duties. Standing/walking for most of shift, an occasional operation of mechanical lifting devices to move stock or parts.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience, associate degree preferred, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in manufacturing leadership and or process improvement roles including leading or supervising people. Experience with plastic injection molding environment, thermosets and thermoplastic materials preferred. Experience supervising to the ISO or equivalent quality standards. Ability to develop credibility with employees and management. An enthusiastic and energetic promoter of Allied Moulded Products. A strategic thinker that is well organized, attentive to details, and works well with minimal supervision. Good understanding of continuous improvement standards.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate will occasionally work near moving parts. The associate may occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Due to the open environment of the building, must be able to work in various temperatures. Involves moderate or occasional presence of unfavorable conditions, i.e., cold, dust, heat, noise, odor, chemicals, etc. Safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, heat protective sleeves, and safety shoes may be required in the area that you are working in based on our safety PPE standards.
