Job Description

The Project Manager IV will assist the institute with managing project activities including developing, implementing, tracking budgets, tracking timelines and deliverables, and providing periodic evaluations and reports for projects that are generally large in scope.

Responsibilities: 

- Defines and ensures project mission and vision are met through the Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute (NRI) Regional Planning and Partnerships (RPP) team in support of the Department of Defense Readiness and Environmental Protection

Integration (REPI) Program.

- Provide assistance to the Sentinel Landscapes Partnership to ensure appropriate and strong connections with the anchor military installations to achieve the landscape goals. 

- Identify, develop, and assist in applying solutions to complex encroachment challenges within Sentinel Landscapes through bolstering partnerships and projects between military installations and landscape partners. 
- Coordinate collaboration among Sentinel Landscapes in the Southeast through the Southeast Regional Partnership for Planning and Sustainability (SERPPAS) and beyond. 
- Support, maintain and enhance relationships with the military services in support of REPI and Sentinel Landscapes goals. 
- Manage project portfolios in line with business strategies and in accordance with project management standards. Periodically conducts meetings with stakeholders to schedule and coordinate project activities.
- Coordinates project resources in conjunction with resource holders and other project managers. -- - Manages projects that the problem and solution are difficult and complicated to achieve.
- Manages project quality control and assurance. May have significant links to other projects.
- Establishes goals for project delivery. Apply current best practices in vendor selection, contract negotiation, and project lifecycle.
- Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progress is on schedule and within prescribed budget that usually has a significant impact on financial revenue and expenses.
- Manages and/or supervises project team members as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.


Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in military Operational Art/Science, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or other related fields or equivalent education and experience including Military service.

Nine (9) years of related experience including experience in managing multiple projects and initiatives with a variety of stakeholders, sometimes with competing interests, on a multitude of subjects to ensure collaborative and mutually agreed outcomes. Experience directing and managing strategic projects to implement vision to accomplish goals.

Preferred Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree in military Operational Art/Science, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management or other closely related field or commensurate military experience that demonstrates advanced leadership abilities with a minimum of 15 years of experience. 

- Experience with understanding military installation operations requirements and challenges, military installation leadership and encroachment partnerships. 
- Experience developing and achieving strategic objectives, managing budgets, and coordinating with professional staff.
- Experience working with a broad range of stakeholders such as agency professionals with federal, state, or other public organizations with a military mission or focus.

-Education or experience in advanced literary processes, standards, and methods in relation to developing and publishing technical, professional, and popular materials for a diverse group of end users.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to create a positive work environment that fosters creativity and productivity.
Strong communication and coordination skills.

Ability to provide excellent client or stakeholder service including coordination, consultation, extension, and workshops.

Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
In depth knowledge of military operations, encroachment challenges, and implementing REPI and Sentinel Landscape projects.

Ability to communicate with high-ranking military installation leaders in discussing encroachment challenges and relating mission assurance with land and resource sustainability. 
 

Soft Funding Clause Included: Due to this position’s salary having all or a portion of it being funded by grants or contracts, the continuing salary and overall employment is contingent upon the availability of these funds in the future.
