Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Academic Mentor to Teachers to join our team and support the mission of academic excellence and faith formation.
At St. Ambrose Catholic School, the Academic Mentor is a crucial professional development resource in education, focused on improving teacher effectiveness and ultimately, student achievement. Under the supervision of the Principal, assist certified professional staff with students in the classroom to meet instructional goals and objectives. As well as contribute and promote major aspects of the educational program, such as project-based learning.
The Academic Mentor must have a genuine interest in the growth and development of a safe and nurturing environment for the students they teach.
Quali?cations:
• Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church, committed to Catholic education and values.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of successful teaching experience.
• Valid state teacher certification.
• Experience in supervision and mentoring of new teachers.
• General knowledge of instructional coaching.
• Strong organizational, communications, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, parents, and parish leadership.

Preferably Master's degree in Educational Administration and Supervision.
Major responsibilities: • Coach teachers and provide feedback when necessary.
• Support teacher development: provide support and guidance to teachers, helping them understand and implement instructional practices, analyze data, and develop differentiated lessons.
• Model lessons and strategies: demonstrate effective teaching techniques through modeling, co-planning, and co-teaching.
• Utilize data to inform instruction: support teachers and collaborate with Principal in using data to improve teaching and learning.
• Build strong relationships: cultivate positive relationships with teachers and staff, fostering a collaborative professional community.
• Assist teachers in creating a classroom environment conducive to learning, including social and emotional development
• Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality of information about students and school decisions as is expected of fully certified teachers.
• Other duties as assigned by the Principal and Pastor.
Important Notes: • Academic Mentor is not a supervisory role and does not evaluate colleagues.
• A key aspect of academic coaching is building trust and creating a safe space for teachers to take risks and learn.
In essence, an academic mentor is a dedicated and experienced educator who acts as a partner and coach to teachers, helping them develop their skills, make self-re?ection a daily habit, and ultimately improve student outcomes.
