Position Title: Hammer Driver
Reports To: Production Supervisor
Supervises: None
Classification: Hourly, Union, Non-exempt
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The statements below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the employee of this position. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and activities required of this position.
- Drive a Manipulator to assist in both the hammer and press forging processes
- Assist in holding mandrels or stop blocks, hand rolling or as otherwise needed when the use of a manipulator is not required
- Fill manipulator with diesel fuel at end of shift
- Assist with maintenance on hammer during breakdowns
- Load/unload parts from furnace
- Locate and prepare stock to be re-loaded and/or loaded for next shift’s production
- Place punches with manipulator if too large for manual lifting
- Assist in the set up of all forging operations
- Conduct pre-operational inspections of equipment
- Assist in the positioning and removal of finished parts
- Periodic cleaning of press pit
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Requirements:

- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent and at least two years of related experience and/or equivalent education & experience
- Previous knowledge of metal work processes acquired through formal academic training and/or experience earned through past employment
- Ability to measure parts using standard measuring devices
- Demonstrated reasoning and critical thinking skills
- Displays a team attitude and have respect for others
- Demonstrated computer skills for data entry
Working Conditions:
This position is full-time. Days and hours of work are determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Occasional flexibility to work an alternate schedule may be necessary for business demands. The position mainly operates in a manufacturing setting with frequent exposure to production equipment and machinery. The setting may be busy and noisy and with exposure to dust, fumes and gases. Personal protective equipment is provided by the Company.
Physical Demands:
While performing the job duties of this job, the employee will spend most of his/her time standing and walking and will be required to regularly see, talk and hear. The employee is required to do the following:
- Stand (rarely)

- Lift up to 85 lbs. (rarely)
- Carry (rarely)
- Bend (rarely)
- Squat (rarely)
- Reach above shoulder level (rarely)
- Push and pull levers (10 lbs.) on manipulator truck (continuously)
