Rework Quality Technician

This position reports to Lead Product Segment Quality Assurance Manager and will work in Elkhart, IN.
About the position
As a Rework Quality Technician in the Quality team, you will be involved in identifying, documenting, and correcting non-conforming products or components through rework processes. This role ensures that all reworked items meet quality standards before being returned to production or shipped to customers. The technician collaborates closely with Quality Assurance, Engineering, and Production teams to maintain product integrity and compliance with specifications.
Your main responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Facilitate and promote use of appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful evaluation of returned products.
- Develop and conduct methods for testing and evaluation of returned products.
- Provide technical support for and continually review testing processes for all returned products.
- Apply systematic problem-solving methodologies in identifying issues found during testing of products.
- Complete Inspection of parts associated with customer complaints or SOHN.
- Reclaim tested products (ACs, Refers, Coolers, Etc).
- Repackage items damaged in warehouse (includes inspecting and testing items if applicable).
- Perform Rework for requests received through Segment Quality (includes reworking items, repackaging, relabeling, etc.)
- Assist RGA technicians with testing as needed.
- Assist RGA technicians with paperwork (includes receiving and dispositioning items returned under warranty).
- Assist Engineering Dept with special requests; testing and/or repairing items to regain functionality.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

A suitable background would be a solid experience within Quality and/or Manufacturing – as well as the following qualifications and experiences:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); technical certification or associate degree (preferred).
- 1–3 years of experience in a quality or manufacturing environment, preferably in rework or repair.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions and drawings.
- Familiarity with inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and quality standards (ISO, IPC, etc.).
- Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.
- Experience with soldering, wiring, or mechanical assembly (if applicable).
- Knowledge of root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
To be successful in this role, we believe that you possess the following skills, competencies & characteristics:
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift up to 40-50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Familiarity with ERP or quality management systems.
