JOB TITLE: Delivery Driver – Nutrition and Food Services Program

REPORTS TO: Nutrition and Food Services Program Director
STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
PAY: $16–$18/hour
HOURS: 20–25 hours per week
START DATE: Immediate

SUMMARY:
The Delivery Driver supports the BGCLC Nutrition and Food Services Program by ensuring the timely, safe, and compliant delivery of meals to Club sites and partner schools. This position is responsible for maintaining food safety during transport, completing required documentation, ensuring vehicle readiness, and representing BGCLC professionally when interacting with site staff and partners.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Load meals into temperature-controlled vehicles in accordance with food safety standards.

  • Verify quantities, labels, and special instructions before departure.

  • Deliver meals on schedule to designated sites with minimal disruption to programs.

  • Perform pre- and post-transport temperature checks, logging data according to CACFP and BGCLC requirements.

  • Report any temperature discrepancies to the kitchen supervisor and assist in corrective actions.

  • Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections (including fuel, tires, brakes, and cleanliness) and report any maintenance needs.

  • Maintain professional vehicle appearance and adhere to all traffic and safety laws.

  • Keep accurate delivery logs, temperature records, and proof of delivery documentation.

  • Obtain required signatures or confirmations from site personnel.

  • Communicate delays, incidents, or changes in delivery routes promptly.

  • Demonstrate courteous, professional interactions with Club and school staff.

  • Follow all BGCLC policies, CACFP guidelines, ISBE standards, and local regulations related to food handling and transportation.

  • Participate in required food safety, sanitation, and transportation training.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to pass background and driving check.

  • Experience in food delivery, courier services, or transportation preferred.

  • Knowledge of food safety practices and temperature-controlled delivery standards is a plus.

  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. and navigate stairs or ramps.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Frequently required to sit while driving; occasionally stand, walk, bend, or stoop.

  • Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions during loading/unloading.

  • Works in and around vehicles and temperature-controlled food storage units.

  • Moderate noise level typical of transportation and kitchen environments.
