JOB SUMMARY:
Team Monarch is a fun and exciting way to join the on-mountain ski industry and the Monarch family. This department is an upbeat, active, and outdoor department that provides opportunities to earn and play in the mountains. Enjoy the on-mountain working environment then the perks of your complimentary Monarch Mountain Season Pass. The Competition Coach shares their passion for snow sports with guests. They are responsible for coaching guests in skiing and/or snowboarding competition, continues to develop his or her own skills as a coach, and maintains clientele through proactive service and sales efforts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The Competition Coach responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Work in conjunction with other employees and departments as part of the Monarch team.
- Coach guests in the tactics of skiing or snowboarding competition, providing them with a positive and quality experience that is within the realm of the IFSA, PSIA/AASI, USSA teaching methodologies.
- Develop skiing/boarding and coaching skills throughout the season.
- Accept and relinquish custody of minors per prescribed procedures.
- Develop and maintain clientele through proactive service and sales efforts.
- Attend and coach at competitions.
- On hill preparations, course setting, signage, timing and officiating.
- Mentor/coach peers as assigned.
- Perform snow removal as necessary.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum Age: 21
- Legal citizen of the United States or possess other proper work permit authentication.
- High School Diploma or GED required, college degree preferred.
- Background check required.
- A valid Driver’s License, and a good, company insurable driving record is required.
- Member of IFSA and L100 Certification preferred
- Ski/Ride at an advanced level.
- Ability to push, lift, and move up to 30 lbs.
- Requires skiing or riding for long periods of time, on challenging or difficult terrain, and avoiding and recovering from a fall. Must be able to stop, turn, change directions suddenly, adapt to uneven, varying intermediate terrain, and move in both directions on skis or snowboard carrying up to 15 lbs.
- Must have the strength, flexibility, endurance and aerobic conditioning to meet the demands posed by lifting, bending, kneeling, stretching, climbing stairs, shoveling snow, lowering and carrying equipment.
- Requires working at high elevation (up to 12,000’), with extended exposure to adverse weather conditions, such as severe cold, heavy snowfall, rain, strong winds and intense sun.
JOB TYPE: Winter Seasonal, Full and Part Time
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
- Compensation: Begins at $20.00 per hour, actual pay will be adjusted based on experience/length of service
