About the role

We are creating a new team, at the heart of the council, to provide high level administrative support, research and policy advice to the Leader of the Council and Cabinet Members, to help them to fulfill their executive and community leadership roles.

Working alongside the Strategic Political Advisor, Corporate Strategy Team and Comms Team,  this role will support the delivery of the council’s strategic priorities through the effective planning of Cabinet and Council Management Team agendas, enabling the Leader and Cabinet to be appropriately sighted on key strategic issues and that the council is focused on delivery priorities, identified in the corporate plan.   

It will support the Leader and Cabinet in undertaking effective resident and community engagement and will oversee the effective provision of day to day administrative support to the Leader and Cabinet, coordinating effectively across services in managing briefing requests, research and other information gathering as required

This role is to provide strategic support to the Leader and the Cabinet Members in their roles as Executive Members of the Council. It DOES NOT include providing political advice, or any assistance to any political groups or their parties.

We are looking for someone who can work across the organisation and our cabinet members to deliver a policy and research support. You will be comfortable working at all levels of the organisation and also in talking to residents. You will be comfortable working on your own, as well as across the wider strategy team.
