JOB SUMMARY
Assist patients by accommodating their needs and requests for services. Pay special attention to patients with limited mobility and assist them in a timely manner to their destination. Operate and maintain control of a six or eight passenger golf cart shuttle throughout the campus parking facility, and actively look for patients and guests who need a ride or transport to a designated location.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Acknowledge and greet all guests and patients.
- Assist patients in and out of vehicles, wheelchairs, and stretchers.
- Transport patients to physicians’ offices or other locations.
- Respond to pages promptly.
- Welcome and greet all guests and patients on the campus parking lots.
- Document and complete all paperwork in a timely fashion.
- Maintain general cleanliness and appearance of portico, foyer, and lobby.
- Alert management to any security issues and take appropriate action as necessary.
- Be proactive with answering questions and providing directions.
- Return all unused wheelchairs to lobby and secure them at night.
- Observe all street signs, and use turn signals while the shuttle is in operation.
- Ask whether patients and guests need a ride to a location.
- Pick up and deliver guests and patients to and from the MCC parking areas.
- Observe guests and patients who enter and exit the shuttle and assist if needed.
- Assist guests and patients with lifting and/or carrying equipment on and off the shuttle if needed.
- Assist anyone who may need help, including assisting guests and patients with minor car trouble.
- Be proactive with answering questions and providing directions.
- Monitor surroundings to respond to workload changes.
- Respond to guests and patients to get them to their destinations quickly-be assertive
- Maintain two-way radio contact with base station.
- Respond to emergency codes, trauma, or disaster situations according to established policies and procedures.
- Follow MCC’s Vehicle Fleet Safety Policy, which covers safety, responsibilities and expectations, and equipment inspections, for drivers of any MCC owned or leased vehicle. If any equipment on the vehicle is working incorrectly, immediately notify the Guest Services Coordinator of any issues. If a vehicle is potentially unsafe to drive, for any reason, immediately remove the vehicle from service and notify the Guest Services Coordinator.
- Understand you are not permitted to listen to music, radio, audiobooks or any other type of audio entertainment or to watch any type of visual entertainment via any type of device while on the clock.
- Understand that use of cell phones, for any purpose and of two-way radios while driving is prohibited. Because patient shuttle drivers are expected to answer communication devices as soon as safety permits, those drivers will move out of the path of traffic before responding to a call.
- Drive patient golf-cart shuttles not in use for an extended period (such as overnight) into the patient golf-cart shuttle garage. Lock and check the rolling garage door, and close and lock the side entry door.
- Perform daily vehicle maintenance inspection and safety checks.
- Perform and document routine maintenance of the shuttle, including changing tires if needed.
- Complete all paperwork and logs in an organized and thorough fashion.
- Cross- train and assist other positions within the Guest Services department as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum education requirement is high school diploma or GED.
- Must have valid driver’s license and be insurable according to our automotive insurance company’s criteria, to operate all MCC vehicles including rented equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Post-offer hearing and vision checks, conducted by MCC, must demonstrate ability to successfully operate the shuttle cart and other MCC vehicles.
- Ability to lift, move, support, push and pull up to 50 pounds on a routine basis and up to 80lbs on occasion.
- Ability to perform constant repetitive hand and finger motions.
- Ability to work in various positions including sitting, bending, kneeling, stooping, and climbing when necessary.
- Ability to stand and walk on a constant basis throughout the day.
- Must be able to operate telephone, wheelchair, stretcher, dolly, all types of MCC vehicles, and two-way communications devices.
- Ability to navigate the entire medical campus utilizing stairwells, elevators, and golf cart shuttles.
