The Equipment Technician II assists and supports others in a department, subdivision, function, or project. The position relies primarily on established policies, procedures, and applicable work practices to make decisions as they apply to the job duties and responsibilities.
This position services and repairs construction equipment in the company’s fleet and for the local customer base. This position typically reports to the Service Foreman or Supervisor. This position requires moderate supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine adjustments, tests, inspections, installations, maintenance, and repairs to equipment in the shop.
- Safely load and unload equipment for transporting.
- Complete necessary paperwork, including work orders, parts orders, and billings.
- Maintain an orderly work area.
- Communicate with customers concerning repair and service needs; this communication is frequent and critical.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards.
- Plan, organize, and carry out assignments as directed.
- Adhere to and support AMECO’s Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies.
- Effectively develop and apply the Core Skills to the job.
- Meet expectations on attendance and punctuality.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred, or
- A combination of education and directly related experience equal to two (2) years.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of experience in the construction equipment industry.
- Hydraulics, electrical, engines, and power train certification required
- Ability to perform and oversee servicing, painting, retrofitting, and rebuilding equipment
- Thorough technical training, provided by manufacturers, specific to certain equipment.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, schematics, drive trains, and gasoline engines.
- Effective diagnostic knowledge in all areas for most types of construction equipment.
- Ability to effectively supervise and improve work processes.
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences including management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
- Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal statutes and guidelines.
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computer-based business applications.
Certifications:
- Hydraulics, electrical, engines, and power train certification preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Physical Demands/Requirements:
- Individuals may be required to frequently sit/drive stand, walk, lift/carry, reach, stoop, push/pull, handle/grasp/feel, talk, hear, engage in repetitive motions, and demonstrate eye/hand/foot coordination.
- Close vision is required for this job.
- Employees may be required to occasionally lift, carry, and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Often required to work at a fast pace to meet deadlines, thus some stress may occur.
Work Environment:
- Generally favorable indoor office workspace, and/or:
- Occasionally may require exposure to production/manufacturing areas, which may result in being near moving mechanical parts or being exposed to fumes or airborne particles. These respective areas will require the use of personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, hearing protection, or hard hats. The noise level in the production/manufacturing areas is usually loud.
- Often required to work at a fast pace to meet deadlines, thus some stress may occur.
- Environmental conditions may include occasional exposure to heat, temperature changes, noise, and humidity.
- Occasionally the performance of this position will require exposure to production/manufacturing areas, which may result in being near moving mechanical parts or being exposed to fumes or airborne particles. These respective areas will require the use of personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, hearing protection, or hard hats. The noise level in these areas is usually loud.
