Professional Solutions Delivered, LLC (ProSoDel) is a total solutions provider for government and commercial customers in the areas of Program Management, Logistics, Organizational Change Management, Communications, Training, and Information Technology (IT) Support Services. We are currently seeking a Safety and Environmental Health Specialist to join our team of professionals in support of the NMRLC Warehouse Support Services Program.
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Verify the compliance of the NMRLC safety and occupational health program, including production areas, maintenance shops, and administrative areas.
- Provide safety and occupational health training to contractor personnel.
- Ensures compliance with the NMRLC safety and occupational health program.
- Conduct reviews of goals, objectives, safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Develop and provide safety and occupational training to contractor employees.
- Provide training and certification on MHE (forklift) to contractor warehouse personnel and submit certifications to the COR/ACOR.
- Survey production and office areas to determine compliance with safety and fire standards; implement measures to control or eliminate hazards.
- Provide technical safety and occupational health guidance to parties responsible for hazardous material and waste.
- nvestigate mishaps and prepare reports including contributing factors, photographs, witness statements, and recommendations.
- Maintain mishap records for review by NMRLC personnel.
- Issue and assure the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Conduct an annual self-assessment of the safety program for review by NMRLC leadership.
- Provide educational campaigns for contractors covering on- and off-duty activities such as motorcycle riding, boating, hiking, running, and operating various types of motorized vehicles.
- Maintain training records for the term of the contract and provide a copy annually to the Command Safety/Environmental Program Manager via the COR/ACOR.
- Maintain statistics of all contract worker mishaps resulting in injury, death, and/or property damage, categorized by type and submit annually to the NMRLC Safety/Environmental Program Manager via the COR/ACOR.
- Develop, promulgate, and enforce a written safety and occupational health plan identifying protocols and procedures to ensure a safe workplace and submit plan to COR/ACOR within fifteen (15) calendar days after contract award.
- For accidents/spills involving HAZMAT transportation, prepare DOT Form F5800.1 per DOT regulations and submit to COR/ACOR by close of business the next day. Responsible for cargo compatibility and regulatory interpretation.
- Develop and maintain a training program to enhance environmental awareness, hazardous material/waste minimization, proper waste handling/disposal, and spill response (training must meet DOT and EPA requirements) and maintain training records for the term of the contract and provide annual copies to the Command Safety/Environmental Program Manager via the COR/ACOR.
- Conduct monthly environmental inspections of all contractor-occupied facilities and provide documentation of inspection results and corrective actions within five (5) days after inspection to the Command Safety/Environmental Program Manager via the COR/ACOR.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations)
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience
- Required:
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience working as a safety specialist in a warehouse environment.
- Knowledge of safety and occupational health principles, practices, procedures, and standards.
- Knowledge of environmental concepts, principles, and practices.
- Familiarity with chemical, biological, and ecological concepts, with the ability to adapt practices where relevant guidance is not established.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for hazardous waste management and disposal.
- Knowledge of job hazard analysis and other analytical techniques sufficient to perform mishap investigations and identify causal factors through interviews, study of the sequence of events, environmental circumstances, and review of contractor training records.
- Skill in devising innovative safety procedures to minimize potential for injury or property damage resulting from production activities and equipment operations.
- Knowledge of safety training concepts and the ability to train contractor personnel in safety concepts and safe work practices.
- Previous United States military service experience a HUGE PLUS.
Additional Requirements
- Must have a valid driver’s license and Forklift Operating License/Forklift Operating Certficiation to operate stand-up and 4–6K forklifts.
- Successful completion of a DON-approved Mishap Investigation training course.
- Must be able to work a light to moderate physical effort. Requirements include walking, standing, reaching, bending, and moving items. May require lifting and carrying weight over 45 pounds.
- Must have the ability to read, interpret and apply reference material such as regulations, manuals, catalogs, records, orders, etc. to accomplish and resolve problems; the ability to read and speak the English language, correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and format to prepare and edit written correspondence, reports, and transcribed material; be proficient in US standard office equipment, such as computers, copiers, fax machines, telephone systems and office automation systems, to perform a substantial range of warehouse support; and the knowledge of basic ethical principles, telephone etiquette, excellent communications and customer service skills and ability.

- Must be a United States Citizen.
- Must be able to pass a background investigation (minimum T-1/NACI).
