Quakertown Veterinary Clinic is seeking a dedicated and skilled Veterinary ICU Technician to join our critical care team. This role is ideal for an experienced veterinary professional with a strong foundation in emergency and intensive care medicine. Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in veterinary critical care and over 5 years of total veterinary experience.

We may also consider highly motivated veterinary technicians who have not yet worked specifically in critical care but have substantial experience in emergency and anesthesia. If you thrive in high-acuity environments, are comfortable with fast-paced clinical decision-making, and are eager to advance your skills in ICU nursing, we encourage you to apply.

Hours: Weekends, overnights 
 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities                                                                                                                                          

  • Provide direct nursing care to ICU patients requiring intensive monitoring and support.
  • Perform accurate patient assessments including vital signs, pain scoring, and triage evaluations.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, CRIs, and nutritional support (including via NG, E-tube, or PEG tube).
  • Manage advanced ICU procedures such as oxygen therapy, blood transfusions, urinary catheter care, and central line maintenance.
  • Monitor and operate critical care equipment (ECG, blood pressure monitors, oxygen cages, fluid pumps, syringe pumps, etc.).
  • Assist in emergency situations including CPR, code response, and stabilization protocols.
  • Maintain accurate treatment sheets and medical records with attention to detail and timeliness.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with veterinarians, team members, and clients.
  • Uphold strict infection control, isolation protocols, and ICU cleanliness standards.
  • Collaborate within a team environment to deliver efficient, high-quality patient care.
  • Keep accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy
  • Maintain a professional appearance

 Preferred Education & Experience                                                                                                                                           

The ideal candidate will have 

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 1 year of veterinary critical care experience. Required
  • Minimum of 5 years of total veterinary experience. Required
  • Credentialed veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT) in good standing with the state. Preferred
  • Prior experience with advanced anesthesia monitoring, emergency stabilization, and/or specialty ICU protocols. Preferred 
  • Familiarity with Fear Free practices and low-stress handling techniques. Preferred
